Importing SP vehicles

Post by MadCactus »

I know that this is a horribly overasked question, but no matter how hard I looked, I found NO tuts or messages that fully answered this. Basically, I want to add the Pelican to some MP level (I really don't care which one at this point). I went about it like this:

1. I did a recursive extraction for the Pelican from B40.map.
2. I did a batch extract of Blood Gulch and saved it to a blank folder.
3. I pasted the contents of the Pelican extraction into the Blood Gulch folder.
4. I did a map rebuild and added in the pelican.vehi.meta file.
5. I didn't add the Pelican to the map, but went ahead and tested it.
6. I got an exception.

So, I searched around and pasted together a new battle plan:

1. I did all the steps above except I used a file pelican.scen.meta (I changed the flags for pelican.vehi)
2. Again, before I even added the pelican to the map, it gave me an exception.

I then thought up another plan:

1. I did all of the first set of steps, except that instead of adding in the whole Pelican folder, I added in everything but pelican.scen.meta.
2. Success! I tested and everything ran fine.
3. Next I clicked on the dead_desert_tree scenery tag and clicked Inject Meta and injected pelican.scen.meta.
4. Again, I got an exception.

As you can see, it was all done with HMT v.3. Should I use a different program? Am I doing something horribly wrong? Please don't get all PO'ed because I really am not that big of a n00b and I did spend over an hour trying to find a similar post on both the forums and the tuts.

it might of been a typo but you said you had hmt 3. if this is so i suggest you get 3.5, if you already have it you need to decrap the models first, http://www.halomods.com/forums/viewtopi ... 172f4908e2, if you already followed the tut just follow it again and make sure you follow it to the letter

Cactus, HMT 3 can't add models. That's why you get an exception. It's WAY different in HMT 3.5. Search for the tutorial on how to add models in this forum.

No typo. I've been using v.3.0. I haven't been using 3.5 becuase I have a real tough time getting it to do a batch extract. But, thanx alot! This will save me a TON of frustration.
