New Pistol Model *UPDATED*(new models)
Personally, I wouldnt attempt to make one bitmap fit your gun. I would split the gun into a multi-subobject (material editor) and apply many materials to different faces.
ie: apply a chrome effect to the body (make sure that texture is tileable!!), a wood effect to the handle etc... etc... etc...
You can apply more than one UVW map to an object too, by using the 'map channel' (similar to material ID) in the UVW map modifier.
Hope this helps

that is one wierd looking smg type thingie, lookin good tho. There are many various problems to your model tho that make it unfit for injecting into Halo. That pistol (from what i can see) does not have an operable slide, so therefore you would almost have to completely redo the model for firing/reloading/etc. animations. Just a suggestion tho. Good usage of the lathe modifier on the barrel or that smg. The sight on the pistol is bubbley, it should look more rigid and straight. The barrel tube looks like it has a dome booleaned out rather than a tube or a cylinder with a smaller cylinder booleaned out. Tac light looks a little messy, try straightening out so the bottom of it is at a 180 degree angle. I just LOOVE the smg tho.
Great model, maybe we could talk on msn messenger or aim sometime
