I haven't been able to read the novel yet, but did you notice the codename for the things at the end? Total throw back to the novel, from what I've been told, so even though it wasn't the same, they referenced the original.

People seriously need to stop making a big deal out of the "dongs" in the movie...

It's just rather amusing mostly.
And yeah, FAB...I noticed that as well. I had a chuckle.

Watching it twice lets you get some stuff that you wouldn't have picked up on the first time. It's great.

It's somewhat difficult to explain.. I guess boring sums up my opinion. It's like every scene was drawn out in the worst way possible, then placed in the wrong position. Blue guy talked like an emo kid fed up with humanity, so he runs away to Mars and builds a flying clock. On top of the non-compelling story that had to re-hook me like nine times, the soundtrack execution was terrible. Not to say that the songs they used were terrible, but most hardly fit the scenes, and the ones that did were played for like five seconds. There was nothing driving the movie, and nothing driving my interest trough the whole three hours I was there. I went in hopeful, left trying to stay awake in my car as I drove home.

Sad face.
They cut out a lot of material...the graphic novel isn't always ACTION YEAH, and there was a lot more development of minor characters that they could have done.

I dunno. I guess I can't really explain my personal feelings of all of it without sounding like a desperate comic nerd, but that's what it is...you have to think...what WOULD some giant blue dude who was all-powerful think about us measly humans? Ah well. In my opinion, to enjoy it, you've got to be in the middle of both groups of people. There's those that love the original source material a lot, and obsess over the tiniest of details in it, and there are those who haven't read it at all. Going in having read it a couple times, and knowing that it won't be a masterpiece of recreation, it felt like a decent movie.

well, I got discounted tickets and saw it anyways. it was really cool. I'm intrigued to see what was skipped out of the book now. Rorschach's Mask was really trippy, The gore was a bit much, but it was well used, it wasn't completely senseless and stupid. There was a three year old behind me and he described the dongs in the best way I've heard ever. Melted blue Otter Pop.

If there was one thing I disagreed with, though, it was that...they didn't need to do that much.
In the comic, (lolspoilers if you care) where Rorschach is at the kidnapper's house, he chains him to the furnace thing, leaving one hand open, and then puts a hacksaw next to him, and starts burning the building.
I can see why they didn't leave that in, because people would claim that it's ripping off of Saw, but still....

I can see your point, Shadow. There was a point in the movie where I realized that having little to no knowledge about the Graphic Novel was going to hurt my end-view of the movie. I suppose I went in with some false expectations of what I was going to get. On that note, however, I dug almost all of Rorschach's scenes. Me and my friends always assign each other characters when we see movies like that, and I was fortunate enough to get Rorschach. :o "You people still don't get it.. I'm not locked in here with you, you're locked in here with me!"

The actor did him fantastically. Him and the Comedian were done very well. I'm glad that they were actors who (I at least) didn't really know much of. That way, I wasn't constantly being taken out of the movie because I was seeing the actor and not the character.

I'd also love to get myself Rorschach's style of clothing. I need a new jacket anyway...trenchcoat time? >_>
