Blue guy talked like an emo kid fed up with humanity, so he runs away to Mars and builds a flying clock. On top of the non-compelling story that had to re-hook me like nine times, the soundtrack execution was terrible. Not to say that the songs they used were terrible, but most hardly fit the scenes, and the ones that did were played for like five seconds. There was nothing driving the movie, and nothing driving my interest trough the whole three hours I was there. I went in hopeful, left trying to stay awake in my car as I drove home.
Sad face.
They cut out a lot of material...the graphic novel isn't always ACTION YEAH, and there was a lot more development of minor characters that they could have done.
I dunno. I guess I can't really explain my personal feelings of all of it without sounding like a desperate comic nerd, but that's what it is...you have to think...what WOULD some giant blue dude who was all-powerful think about us measly humans? Ah well. In my opinion, to enjoy it, you've got to be in the middle of both groups of people. There's those that love the original source material a lot, and obsess over the tiniest of details in it, and there are those who haven't read it at all. Going in having read it a couple times, and knowing that it won't be a masterpiece of recreation, it felt like a decent movie.
