JMS compiling...

Post by thechosen »

i was wondering how long compiling in tool is supposed to take. i started compiling a jms file and it is still on building intermediate geometry. should it still be that way?
I am using Gmax to make the map and used chimp to make the jms. Converting to .scenario and bsp with HEKter

I usually export the *.JMS file into (using thechosen's directory structure
as an example) the following:-

levels\map\newmap\models

When I run HEKter I just point it at levels\map\newmap and it (tool.exe) automatically looks in models (under ..\newmap) for the JMS file.

Once you've built the newmap.scenario file it should appear under

\Halo Custom Edition\tags\levels\map\newmap (I think)..

Yeah. But I always put it in levels\test\<mapname> because that's where all of the other multiplayer levels are.

Ahhh..... Well the one I'm trying to get working on my PC is under:-

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition\data\levels\test\mojo"

And underneath "mojo" I've got my bitmaps, models & scenery folders.
Is that correct?

You can get it from here...
HEKter.zip!

Although I found it just sitting there when I had not setup my shaders - HEKter didnt display the 'please select shader... (1-6) in it's bottom window..

I found that out by running tool.exe in a 'cmd' window.

If you use google and look for Hekter - I think the sofware author has his own site...

that is where i put it. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition\data\levels\test\map\models\newmap.jms
It is in the models folder, and i have a bitmaps folder too. its just that it starts compiling, but stays that way. it also happens when I try to compile the included Tutorial.jms by following the manual included with HEK. could this just be my PC?

How about running tool.exe from a windows command shell?
I'm assuming youre running XP..

The way I;ve setup my cmd shell is create a NT Environment variable called HALO and pointed it at C":\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition"

So in a command prompt typing cd %HALO% from anywhere will put me in the right directory to run tool.exe

I've also updated my XP PATH environment variable to also include the HALO CE directory..

Anyway.. have you tried running:-

tool.exe structure levels\my_dir\my_level mapname.jms

that way you might see soething out of tool.exe which Hekter doesnt display (like when asking what type of shader are you using)...
