Re: Demo opinions
You indeed can. According to some info of the Halo Wars site, they start off as Special Forces-type infantry like the Honor Guard Elites and the Jet Pack is an upgrade.V0Lt4Ge wrote:I remember hearing that you can train those brute jetpack dudes.

Re: Demo opinions
It's been mentioned, but I find that the AI does seem to send a 'large' wave near the beginning of the game, but little waves following. It makes it rather disappointing when you send your 31 squads of ODSTs to the enemy base, only to find little resistance.
On that note, ODSTs are quite amazing. Quite good against both infantry and vehicles. Not sure about air vehicles, as the AI has not yet sent them against me.
Easy is... rather easy.
Normal is decent. For me, there were very small points of stress, but overall, it was pretty lax.
Heroic is hard. For me, at least. The enemy sends the first huge wave, and pretty much all my units are knocked out, and my base severely crippled. I've never been that amazing at RTSs(which sucks, 'cause I enjoy them quite a bit), but I can't see how people see Heroic as, "easy."
I'm likin' the warthog's special ability. As well as the marines'. I've been unable to find a situation in which I could use the Spartans'.
I can't say much for the other units, scorpions, hornets, etc. I have some sort of obsession with building all of one unit, so I can have an "army of marines," sorta' speak. It's probably what gets me killed. But god help me an army of ODSTs is just so fun.
I'm quite looking forward to release.

I want star craft two now.
I remember endless hours of playing brood war; too bad I lost my main star craft disc, so I can't just install brood war on my new computer.

Walmart is counter productive in selling video games.xlRainlx wrote:Damn I have to wait a week after the game comes out to get it from Wal-Mart. I always though pre-ordering meant you got it the day it came out =/
Pre-ordering in other video game retailers, like GameStop, mean you are guaranteed a copy and exclusive content and can pick it up the day of release.
Pre-ordering from Walmart also means you are guaranteed a copy and exclusive content, however they get to bathe in your money for a full week before having to give you the goods.
You don't pre-order from Walmart, you post-order.

You don't pay extra, you just put down at least $5 as collateral but that $5 still goes toward paying for the game.
So if you put down $5 on a $60 game, you only pay $55 at time of release.
You only loose that $5 if you don't show up within like 72 hours of release.
That's how it was when I pre-ordered CoD: W@W.
