importing from pc
i am 99.9 sure i can do this but what should i import. the only thing i know of is the rocket hog. tell me if its worth me doing and any other ideas you have.
idea
GJ, pokecancer, I must say I have been thinking about the differences between xbox and PC, I think that it is merely the way Halo was designed for PC to allow so much, unlike xbox with so many restrictions. I still think that an unmodded map from PC say BG, would be able to be played together so long as the PC version turned all vehicles off, and the xbox as well and also the xbox host the game. I have had my xbox connected to my PC while running halo and the system link button in multiplayer was highlighted meaning I could start a game there. I know it should be possible to get the Rhog, and maybe shade in. But making them separate from the rest of the vehicles seems nearly impossible, without some major changes to the xbox map. (size, etc)
I think the rocket hog would be a great addition to the xbox, dont get me wrong there. How about getting a level converter? I would like to play some of those maps on PC that aren't on xbox, like infinity, death island, etc. I think that it would be possible if you remove the vehicles from the coding of the map. That seems to be the major difference, and also maybe replace some of the PC models, (convert them) or something, or like you say, import. Keep up the good work, I would help but I am still just researching. I Barely know how to change stuff in HMT, and move stuff around in SE and skin things.

well
yeah
it doesn't sound hard to do but I don't really know any coding.
the xbox X, Y, Z drives are coded in the default xbe of all games I think, if not it would not matter what size they are. So if someone bought a new drive and formatted/partitioned it with the xyz drives larger it would run fine. I think that part is at least easiest as long as the size of the xyz drives isn't specific for games to operate.

I have tried SO hard to find the map size restriction.
I've spent several hours poking through the xbe trying to find something related.
I've tried disassembling the xbe, but unfortunately I'm not that good with asm.
I think a lot of people have probably tried, but I, personally, am still open to anyone's ideas. I don't think we have many options though.

i think you should try either the flamethrower or plasma cannon as someone had said earlier, however i really don't care what you do do... i just hope you can make it so your pmi proggy can automate the process, if you can get it to work, which i'm almost 100% positive you can. n e ways keep up the great work
What we need is some sort of program that launches xbe's, but keeps tabs on all the memory locations for, say... 5 minutes. It would need to be able to save a compressed log file to the E or F drive, and have a decent configurable GUI. Then, we might have a chance to see where the file size checksum is... other than that, I doubt we'll find it... ever.
well
maybe the checksum is somewhere close to memory in the xbe. what i mean is maybe it is a checksum that runs from the RAM of the xbox. I dont know though
if only a really good ASM programmer existed on this board... AFAIK, everyone here is just pretty good in hex, and cpp, or vb/vb.net....
I'm going to attempt to throw myself into the hex again... I recommend using WinHEX to examine the xbe, as any hexeditor isn't going to do well.... you need to be able to 'see' the memory locations....
EVERYONE: TRY LOOKING FOR THE MEMORY LOCATIONS!!! It's probably somewhere in the compiled zlib decompressor portion of the xbe. keep that in mind.
