Re: 3dsmax Rendering Support Topic
I'm completely new to VRay, anyone know anything about it in particular? I can't seem to figure out how to get a good looking 'Jell-O' material and a Ceramic plate material. I did a quick Google for Jell-O and it suggest No gloss, high refraction, high reflection, with fog. I did that, but it was opaque. I have GI enabled, and Caustics, but I don't know if I need the latter. (It look similar with it on/off.)
As for Ceramic material, I just made the play slightly glossy with a matte finish, not sure if that's correct or not? I had Fresnel reflections on, too.
Thank you!

Sorry for double-post.

That's what I got with a 'Ballistics Gelatin' Material, minus the bump map. Any good?

Make it slightly more translucent, make the bottom of the jello mold more rounded, and make the top a bit more flat.

I'm looking for thoughts and suggestions for my latest material, and hopefully you all can settle a dispute over what version looks better.

Re: 3dsmax Rendering Support Topic
Overall, I'd choose the first. It does a much better job of exemplifying details on the normal map, particularly on the rubber. Makes it 'pop,' in a sense. That said, I feel the material overall lacks detail and definition and a lot could be added to differentiate it from other people's materials and whatnot. Something to make it unique and fresh.
