Poly Limit

Post by ryan_mckenzie »

When making a map, how many ploly's am I allowed to use?
And eh, while I'm here, I might as well ask like I have before, is it ok to model a map in maya? Because I kinda am. (Don't ask why... I find maya easier to use than max). Should I expect errors when importing the map into max for texturing etc...

For multiplayer, Bungie says don't use more than 10,000 faces I think. But meh, machines are better now.

Wow, 50,000 is a lot more than I expected. I'll try and keep it to a minimum though.
Thanks. I better get modeling :D

So is there an actual limit where the game will aspload, or will it just gradually lag your machine into the fiery depths of hell?

Naturally, I think the result would be lag, but there's always the possibility that the engine won't be able to cope with "so many" poly's. Otherwise, Halo would be free to be Ultra Hi-res on "Crysis" gaming rigs.

That'd be sweet
