Swapping weapons using Sparkedit

Post by cmori3 »

I'm working with infinity on sparkedit, but am having issues with swapping weapons. I select a weapon, but the swap menu is completely blank. Has anyone had this problem or know how to fix it?

I'm using Sparkedit to place a plasma pistol on infinity, because whenever I play (regardless of what weapon set I choose) the plasma pistol doesn't show up in its location on Sparkedit (or at all for that matter).

If you have PMI'ed you will need the string fixer or w.e is it called. You can find it in the utilities section...
Link to it

EDIT : If not so I'm not sure what causes it. Make sure you selected weapon first...give us some more info.

I did PMI, but I don't think that's relevant. I can't change ANY weapon into ANYTHING.

That's normal. There is a way of getting round it, however. It's quite easy; just modify the scenario in a dependency swapper.

I wish Gren would update it so we could do stuff like that!
He seems to have left it for dead
If we had the source we could save it!

I remember reading somewhere that gren wasn't working on SE anymore because he had moved onto bigger and better things (Prometheus). Bobindashadows the guy who did almost every mac app back in the day posted his sparkedit source here which includes a large portion of gren's code. It's not complete and is missing most of what would be necessary from a UI perspective but the core of what's necessary to edit the scenario is there. I wrote the Eschaton scnr editor with this as a guide. All of bob's code is in OBJ-C if the syntax looks unfamiliar.

Thanks for the help. What do you mean by "modify the scenario in the dependency swapper"? I HHT which has a dependency swapper but can you be a bit more specific about "modify the scenario"?

using halo hacker tool (HHT), go to tags that reads "[scnr] senario"
there will be a list. scroll down all the way to [itmc], if its a multiplayer map. youll see a weapon or item powerup. swap what you wish using those tags. like the same weapon appears everywhere or something, just a thought.

I'm 25% sure this is the right way...:?

(ignore this if problem is solved, or just ignore this itself...)

Just to verify the above is correct.

It will swap that one particular weapon for whatever you select.

Also though, you cant be sure which one on the map it is. Swap it, find it in sparkedit, and then duplicate/move it from there.

Or you could simply scroll through the blank area of the weapons until you get the result you want. You may not be able to see the names, but the weapons are still there; you can still see it swapping in the window.

Well I solved my problem by simply swapping for the needler using HMT, but I'm sure many people with the same issue will be browsing this forum because they need to swap weapons without getting rid of one.
