I'd like to recommend that people keep their mindless ranting and vague, if not entirely unrealistic theories to themselves or discussed in private. Of course, the same could even be said to those with feasible or highly plausible theories. Mixing the two together just makes everything seem all the more silly. I happen to be pretty psyched about this video and really want to discuss it, but I see that this is not the place to do it. I'll be on Trillian a lot if someone wants to chat about this in private. Or hell, PM me.

Edit directed @ Tural: I wonder why you reply in these threads sometimes. I mean, sure, there's the obvious love of being right; but have you taken a look at what you're being right about? I mean, from what I've seen, your comments, as correct as they are (I'm assuming anyway) aren't exactly a sharp reflection of your intelligence. Or maybe you're just trying to be a helping hand and share your carefully assessed logic with the ignorant masses who just seem to take your comments and return even more foolish. My only advice for that is this: You can't fix stupid. I'm sure you can find some good sources to discuss all this madness with and get a logical response in return.
Ouch, someone just got exterminated.

I don't recall this, so I can't comment on it.
[IA]Paul wrote:2. At the end of Metropolis, you see high speed winds tossing cars around like toys. Something that strong would have blown out windows, not like the small level of destruction shown in the trailer, IE a few overturned cars, and the buildings in relatively good shape.
If you notice, though, the area where cameras are are not right where the ship jumped, they're a fair distance away, they aren't at ground zero.
[IA]Paul wrote:3. In Halo 3, on Tsavo Highway, the marines remark about how the stalk of the orbital elevator fell in the New Mombasa Slipspace event. The stalk was thicker than most buildings; I don't think the other buildings would have been in such good shape after something that destructive happened.
It jumped very near to the elevator. Note this image, that is right next to the elevator, it is taking the full force of the jump. Also notice that this is on the outskirts of the city, away from the cameras.
[IA]Paul wrote:4. LESS RELIABLE AS IT IS FROM THE BOOKS AND MIGHT BE OFF A BIT BECAUSE OF "CREATIVE FREEDOM:" In "Ghosts of Onyx," one of the pilots says "The transition's overpressure wave flattened New Mombasa!" Also, this is a quote; it might be exaggerated because of simulated human error/hyperbole.
The latter. Furthermore, High Ground is a facility that was "destroyed" by the Slipspace event, if I recall the map description correctly, and it's still in relatively good shape.

All in all, it is New Mombasa. This is a CG trailer, it's going to differ slightly from the gameplay and scenes we're presented with. The ship there is very, very clearly Regret's, as it's the only Covenant ship to enter Slipspace over an Earth city, and they are very directly stating it is New Mombasa. They did it purposefully so people wouldn't have to determine where it was, they said "Here, this is New Mombasa, look." There may be some minor inaccuracies, but they made sure that people know where it takes place.

I never realised buildings went through slipspace with Regret, to me it just looked like random debris, so i never gave it a second thought.

But here is a screenshot shows it:

I would assume that the buildings in the range of the Slipspace rupture would go into Slipspace, but I'm not sure how important that is to the story, or if it was just done for dramatic effect. Maybe Veegie can post some explanation or reason I'm unaware of.

Touche, Tooral.

One thing though: High Ground was "reactivated" after the New Mombasa Slipspace event, not destroyed during it.

All in all, your points are valid.

Did you even look at the debris?
You're supposed to KEEP IT CLEAN.

Going to be pretty weird knowing all those other drop pods went down and got roped by that EMP.. it's going to be a truly unique experience, playing as the last soldier of his kind.

The logs on Bungie.net from the Superintendent call one of the people in command of a squad an "S1." Spartan I? Commence rampant, unverifiable speculation.

SPOILER

Drop pods contain WALL-E units. You clean up the city, only for it to get glassed at the end of Halo 3 anyway.

Bungie sucks at game design and storytelling.

i would never say that the information from the books is accurate, because unless Bungie went to the authors and said "DO THIS!!!" than like Paul said, creative freedom

Another idea is that S1 stands for "Section 1" (I believe ONI is section 3, but I might be incorrect.)

Did you respond to an issue that had already been resolved with the sole purpose of arguing about it more?

Estimate on what level Section 1 would be? The person in question appears to be a commanding officer of a squad, and they've never been referred to by a section before.

Good point.

In the conversation, the Admiral's messages are listed by where they came from (SMN.ACTUAL - "Say My Name")

The sender's id ends in (S1). By the looks of it, "DARE.V.500341(S1)" also represents the origin of the message, not a specific name.
Didn’t think you S1 types ever left your cave.
Because the location is labeled with "S1", it seems that they are not trying to be very secretive, unlike the Spartan II and Spartan III programs. This leads me to feel that S1 does not stand for Spartan I; you never hear about them in the books or the games, even though they do not seem to be secretive in their existence.

I feel like I am over analyzing this information, so I think I'll hold off for now until we get something new to work with.

Section 1 makes sense.

There's enough about them. Johnson was a Spartan I, for instance, as detailed in the Graphic Novel. They discuss the Spartan I project in one of the books.

Also, a quick check notes that ONI is referred to as Section Zero, which would then make more sense for it to be Section One in the context. I'll be willing to agree to it being Section One, in light of this. Edit: Well, the sections are screwy. 0: Controls all of the highest information; 1: Controls general information; 2: Public relations, propaganda; 3: Secret projects.
Section One
The main intelligence-gathering section, and the foremost provider of electronic intelligence for the UNSC. Covenant ship movements and force deployment, evacuation notices for colonies, deletion of data for secrecy purposes, and much more are all done by Section 1.
With ship movement and force deployment listed, it would then make sense. I was interpreting it as a person, but as you pointed out, it's a location instead. My mistake.

tl;dr: You're correct.

Sorry about the first part (sleepy), I meant that the project was never a focus of the story (none of the books take the perspective of anyone related to the program at the time of it's creation and use.)

As for the Graphic Novel, I believe that you are referencing the Marvel series, correct? I just looked through my copy of the Halo Graphic Novel and only found one section that was related to Johnson (his escape from the flood containment area.)

I really should read the Marvel series, but I am angry about how long it is taking them to produce them; I want to read them all at once.

Graphic Novel, page 122. It has the logs showing that the Paris IV/Boren's Syndrome story is false, and they call Johnson a "one" with emphasis on "one." Earlier in that same log, they say something about his proximity to one of the "twos," that being Master Chief. That page's chat log, and the file access log, demonstrate beyond any reasonable doubt that Johnson was a member of the Spartan I's. They have files listed for him that are part of Project ORION, the name of the Spartan I project, and they show directly that they are covering up his immunity to the Flood when they serve Halsey fake documents about his health record.

I'll defer to this for any further information, they cover anything I'd be able to:

This page, overlooking a few posts, was worth the read. I need to read this graphic novel you guys speak of.
