Censorship on the site
Censorship on the site
I'm against any form of censorship whether on the internet, on TV, or state policy, so I just can't stand when words are replaced by *** or someone gets banned for saying something "offensive". I'm not saying I condone racism or violence against people who are differnet or who think differently, but I don't see what the worst can come of an "offensive" joke over the internet, besides, imagine how unfunny things would be on Family Guy if the writers weren't alowed to make jokes about politics or celeberties or... drugs. The only thing I can think of that can come out of a joke is a flame war, but there are ways to deal with flame wars without the use of censorship. I'm just expressing my concern of the site and the members of HaloMods, I'm not trying to be bitchy about it.

Family Guy is on a TV network, that they pay for. The networks decide what to censor, and what not to, and you accept it, or watch something else.
The forums are on a server, paid by grenadiac. He decides what to censor, and what not to, and you accept it, or go somewhere else.
No difference that I can see.

Citing Family Guy probably did not help.
It's more trouble than it's worth. You can't say fuck, shit, or fag on this forum. Just get over it.

Even though it doesn't give the impression all of the time, Halomods is meant to be accessible for all ages. We don't need to remove the censors, and there's more situations where the lack of censors would cause trouble than it would be beneficial.
Plus, 9 times out of 10 it's really not that hard to just guess what the person said if you really want to.

Yeah, you are. There is not a single legitimate reason as to why you'd need to be able to say one of these words and have people see it. The same point gets across when it gets censored. If I say "What the fuck?," you're not sitting around trying to figure out what I meant, and it changes absolutely nothing if it's censored or not. You're arguing based on your own principles, which clearly the admins do not agree with, due to the site being accessible to all ages, as Gametag said. You're not going to get anywhere with this.
There are no admins to change it, and even if there were, they wouldn't change it. Continuing is pointless.

As was stated, this forum is meant for all ages...If you don't like that a word you are using is censored, then find a more age appropriate replacement for the word...If you can't, then it should be obvious what your saying has no place in these forums...
I never want HaloMods to not be on the list of allowed sites by a child because their parent is actually doing their job of monitoring what their children do online, and find this site to be non-appropriate for their children...
I'm well aware of the standard "Halo is rated M" arguement that always crops up...But it also lacks the "realistic army language" you find in alot of M rated combat games...If they soldiers can curb their language so can you...

this is a bit of a bump, but i've been kind of annoyed by this as well. I thought we put up the filters years ago when there were more middle-schoolers prone to flame wars than there are now, so i see the need decreasing. but i also understand wanting to keep the forum accessible to people of all ages.
maybe we can add a wordfilter option in the profile preferences? for example, i think it's silly i have to look at these asterisks, even if i can figure out what the poster was saying from context clues. i'm mature and can deal with it, so it would be nice to turn the wordfilter off for me.
just a thought for an in-between solution to make both camps happy. ultimately, it's grenadiac's forum, so it is up to him.

ASPARTAME: in your diet soda and artificial sweeteners. also, it's obviously completely safe. it's not like it will cause tumors or anything. >.>
