Plenty of discussion could have been made. Instead Tural locks it, with no reason stated for doing so, leading to the impression that there was no reason.

Could at least an explanation for a lock be given, other then "I can do what I want"?

Present a single reason why you could not have just posted in the rant or happiness thread. That does not, in any way, require a thread of its own. So Michael Jackson lives near you, so what? How does that have any impact on anyone else and what do you expect them to contribute. It's not like he's coming to your house in the night and touching little boys. He's just there, it's unimportant and can easily fit in an existing thread. Your thread is frivolous, and other staff would agree. Now I suggest you stop attempting to instigate personal conflict with irrelevant comments.

This deserves a thread, because it is completely unimportant and nobody has anything to contribute about it.

Seriously, the only thing that would come of your thread is more dumb comments about Michael Jackson. If you argue that is not what would be posted, then you would have to present a legitimate discussion that would stem, but there would not be one, because then it would be neglecting the celebrity of the person, and therefore no different than John, making it, again, pointless.

It would fit neither in the Rant nor Happiness thread because I am neither happy nor angered by the fact he's there. It sure doesnt belong in the picture thread, nor the youtube, nor the post your setup, and if you want I'll continue down the list of every topic in every section it doesnt fit in.

I posted it in the Cafe, a section for offtopic discussion, because for one it fit there, and because I wanted to see what others thought about his moving nearby. If theres not going to be an overwhelming amount of response then so be it, but I still see no reason why any of those responses that may have occured must be stiffled.

So wanna try again for a reason, since the last one didn't work? If you could give a fitting reason then I'll be fine with the lock, but if you are not capable of producing one I'd be gratefull if you could unlock the topic.

Shit yeah I loves me some complaints and suggestions board topics. Drama for the fucking win.

It's just some random event. All the topic would spawn is a bunch of terrible jokes people would make about Michael Jackson that we've all already heard about a million times every other time he does anything. That's what we call spam, and ultimately, we'd lock it.

Furthermore, your post just said discuss that he moved in. Yes, he moved in, good for him, now what do you want us to discuss? If you had presented us some form of question, like "have you ever lived near a celebrity?" or "do you think Michael Jackson or any person should be allowed to build a ferris wheel on their property?" then maybe we would have a topic. But at the moment, it's nothing more than a random thought you had with the word "discuss" put at the end, trying to give people the illusion that there is something to discuss.

A perfectly fine discussion could be held about how he, a famous individual, has moved very close to me, and is in the process of developing some sort of amusement park. If you still feel that it is not good enough to constitute a thread, then fine.

What post? The only change I made to my post was the addition of the first line.

If you think it's fine, then why did you make a topic? People develop real estate on a daily basis, just because he's building an extravagant house doesn't really make it any more special than the gym they're building in my town or the new neighborhood down the road from me.

With respect Tural, I disagree with your first post. The cafe is pretty much dead now, mainly because the only topics are about films, ect, and all topics like the above mentioned have been locked. I think it would be better (and this all my personal opinion) to have topics like the such, left open, even if there is little to discuss. The one about the guy who had a shell fragment fall through his roof was allowed, why not this one? In my opinion, they are of equal interest and both have lots to discuss. Also, even if there wasn't, what's wrong with a few dumb Micheal Jackson comments? With the utmost respect, Tural, and all staff concerned, please, crack down on spam, but not fun.

If you had read the thread instead of just breezing through it (assumption) you would have seen that I was neither happy nor angered by it, I was just stating a fact that he had moved nearby, as I said in my second post.

I still see no harm in having kept the thread open. Far worse ones have been left to go.

Gross overstatement. There are 29 topics on the first page alone that are/were legitimate discussions. Some were locked because the issue was addressed and whatnot. So no, that is not true.

As Gametag mentioned, there was no question or topic of discussion presented, it was just a random thought, with no significance or relevance to anything, with the word "discuss" put at the end. He's free to have his topic opened again if he wants to make it a legitimate question or topic of discussion.

Because that wasn't a random thought with the word "discuss" at the end. It's different, just because it can't be explicitly explained with direct, black-and-white explanations, doesn't give you any basis for claims.

Tural told me not to post about this in the rant thread, and to either post here or not at all, so as a response to his reply there:

I wasnt complaining about a thing, I wasn't sure if veegie understood what he was saying and I was just clarifying it to make certain.

And I'm also not dragging anything across the forums. I made a somewhat mature and organized compaint about it in the appropiate thread. After that discussion and debate was over, I then said that unneccescary conflicts with admins are something I don't like (also in an appropiate thread), which you took as me dragging it across the forums, which was never my intent. I was merely posting in an appropiate spot what I had to say, I didn't plan to cause any more problems by it.

IMO, I've handled this in a rather mature manner, I havent broken any rules aside from quite minor flaming towards a staff member, And just wanted a legitimate reason for why my topic was locked, other then the belief that it would have no discussion, which I do not feel is true.
