Well, it all depends on your preferences. Such as how detailed do you want the animation? Does it require an alpha channel? How many frames?ScottyGEE wrote:So I shouldn't make a 2048x2048 animated wall then?
You could make one that size but you may soak up some of the xbox's resources.
However since the custom bitmaps I create don't have 2nd and 3rd LODs or mipmaps, there is less to cache.
If I don't need an alpha channel like that screen saver than I can just use a DXT1 which doesn't have an alpha.
Using that format alone cuts off around 25% of the bitmaps data size but you loose some of the aspects that an alpha channel gives.
I don't actually know if how it would effect it unless you could point out a 2048 sized bitmap tag for me.

Detox never release a 2048, only 1024. That tools is long gone by now.

Yea, it did get those horizontal lines....with one shader.
But with a different shader, the bitmaps turned out pretty much perfect.
So those lines could also be from the detail bitmap but I dunno. I did make other formats this morning...
Thing is is that even though you get pretty good detail, you're better off with a 1024x1024 because the file size addition alone. 4Mb just for this bitmap. >_>

Well the 1024's are very useful in-game for high restetures or if you have a model that has allot of parts.
The 2048's are nice and all but are in no way economic to use since you can get away with a 1024 and the fact that 2048's add too much file size to your map.
They are more of a proof of concept.

Fun with grav thrones. I love this thing. It makes me feel like a James Bond villain.

Turk discovered it via the jpt method, and he had a video of a primitive cloaking vehicle (Cassandra). I think my innovation is how I impose the time limit, whereas by default, it lasts until you die or take a certain kind/amount of damage. It seems like Turk tried to use an effect delay for the camo time, but my method is a little simpler and dirtier.
Somebody posted a mod with a cloaking warthog, but he used my technique and didn't give credit... It also required you to stop, and my newest method works on the fly.

Yes, you get a choice of that or 'classic'.
