Now it just seems like you guys are mocking him. Some recognition for the cool stuff he's doing wouldn't hurt, just don't be a douche about it. I personally think everything he's posted in this thread is awesome.

I'll tell you what, that's exactly what I've been thinking when making this mod.

Wanting a compliment for what he's done is not asking for fame.

He doesn't mod for fame... I know him well enough to say that.

When your work helps accomplish someone else's result, and both you and that person post, but you constantly show your work and get ignored or something, and the other gets more praise its kind of a kick in the face...

Is there something wrong with that? What if you found a countless number of things, and you posted them all, you show someone how to do it, they post their result, and after you get no feedback on what you acheived, others get recognized for the exact same thing, even though you were the one to figure it out.

Nothing in this post against ScottyGEE, or CaptainPoopface...

Is there a problem with wanting a compliment on something you achieved even though all the people around you get compliments for your research?

Does everyone need to be so rediculous here? Eh... Just get back on topic...

Well when you post on a wip thread its to get critics about it, or say "wow awesome" or just say nothing it you find it ok.

Research i have done many, i am not asking for credit i am just hoping that people will use it to make new stuff, and i am not saying, "hey pm me if you want to know how to do it".

When you post a wip picture you shouldn't post it to expect only positive comments, not getting comments happens, i post pics for showing that's all i don't always expect people to reply about it.

When i say mod for fun, its pretty much mod for yourself or make mods to play it with other peoples, there's many mods i haven't finished that i don't show because of bugs, i just don't expect people to get a good opinion about a wip sometimes, when you post too many wips it becomes usual to people so they always want something better.

I wasn't saying that only for Dark, in the end its for me and for everyone, wip thread is cool, but when you post too much it creates a certain competition between modders which is bad as we have seen for motm years ago, and also posting too much makes things "casual" and boring sometimes.

And finaly Dark edited his post so i guess it's allright now.

There is still a difference between modding for fame and wanting a compliment on what you did, when other people did what you discovered and they get recognition and you don't.

Anyways some people are just rediculous here about it but okay... Just drop it if you don't understand his reasoning for it and you honestly think its for fame.

Also he editted his post around the same time that he posted it... A long time ago... And people still felt the need to rag on him.

Don't get me wrong. I like Dark's WIP's. I love them actually. It's always fun seeing what he's going to do next. My post was serious though. In no way was that mocking him or making fun of him. My post was specifically saying that he's one of the remaining Halo2 modders. I haven't seen much of anything from anybody else besides maybe CPF. So, my post was not meant negatively. I know dark...a bit. So I hope he knows i'm just clowning round.

Edit* I'll contribute. Please note, you have to know what I like doing before actually understanding the difference in these pictures...

Yes, there is a working battle rifle. Thanks to Headshot for helping with research. Also, carbine works as well. Some other weapons could potentially work as well... just going to test make sure the sounds work correctly. Although, this is still decently far from being done. Fusion coils work as well :D

I'll make a tutorial about GIFs in Halo 2 sometime in the near future.

Theres a shader function for active shaders. If you null the SID it will cycle through all the submaps. Like if you null the SID on the battle rifle number plate shader it will cycle through all the numbers.

Wow that's awesome actually. Nice. Is it demanding on the engine? Like lag?

Not really as long as you keep a decently small bitmap. It will skip a little in the first couple seconds after a player first see it as it loads and caches all the frames.

That "screen saver" is a 128x128 DXT1 custom bitmap with 45 frames(nearly identical to the GIF), no 2nd or 3rd LODs, and 0 mipmaps.
(I duped one frame by accident but the bitmap had already created so I just continued.)

Just as an example of how demanding it is on the xbox, a 512x512 uses 16x as much data as a 128x128 of the same format.
So it's as if the xbox loaded 3 extra 512's. :) Which is nothing really...
