It's the best theory I've heard so far, aside from the gaping hole I've explained several times. I'm going on the assumption it is for popular threads, as nobody has put forth a better idea. =p

Well, maybe it's for the number of "gold" threads. There is no thread that touches the popularity that the Halo Photography thread became, yet I have only the double chevron. Because this is my only "gold" thread, I'm going with this theory.

I can't imagine someone counting threads as a method of emblem giving. That would be incredibly tedious. You'd have to go through every board totaling numbers for every member.
