Yes, and that was a horrible incident. He quit because he was tired of ***** on this forum.Philly wrote:Oh dear. This is what happened to Pepsi. Andrew_b, this mod is outstanding for a reason. It's awesome.
You should shut up, and stop being jealous of Andrew. seriously. Please, it would benefit everyone else if you would just hush, all you have said is nonsense and b.s, giving Andrew shit for creating an excellent mod.selentic wrote:Wait what?Philly wrote:Oh dear. If you're jealous, get off your *** and you create a mod that can get into outstanding.
So either leave this forum, and rid all of us of your burden. Or, you can apologize for being such a twat and end this nonsense.
But I still hear the deafening drums of war onward every twisted spoke
I am going to tell you the same thing I told Mr. Brightsides once: If you cannot do better shut up. If you can then prove it.selentic wrote:This.Cryticfarm wrote:All the other maps took way longer then that, andrew. If its outstanding anywhere, IMO it should be in the CE. But, no offense to you andrew, this doesn't look that great of a map. I've seen much better still not make it into the outstanding.
All I really see are insets, and extrudes. You need a lot more practice before you/anyone can say its great. As of now its just a tad above average.
Keep trying.
Even if they can do better, who gives a flying fuck? Either way its a great map and it looks nice.bcnipod wrote: I am going to tell you the same thing I told Mr. Brightsides once: If you cannot do better shut up. If you can then prove it.
For those who keep saying this is not worth outstanding, shut up thats your opinion, you don't have to try to tear andrew down from having a title such as this.
This is possibly the best I've ever seen for PC, I think it belongs here, but if it was for CE then no. 9/10 because I've seen better bsp designs, not that the bsp for this is bad or anything.
I hate that logic, it's anti-freedom of speech.bcnipod wrote:If you cannot do better shut up.

Making abstract graphics again and better than ever!
As I said earlier, if it doesn't belong in the Halo CE Outstanding forums, it doesn't belong here. No offense, but this really isn't anything special. A new bsp... k? But kudos to shadow for ignoring my statement on this and moving it anyways.DRL333 wrote:This is possibly the best I've ever seen for PC, I think it belongs here, but if it was for CE then no. 9/10 because I've seen better bsp designs, not that the bsp for this is bad or anything.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this mod was made entirely using CE tools right? Then it was just converted to PC? To me, Halo PC Outstanding Mods forums are meant for exactly that. Outstanding PC mods, not average CE maps converted to PC.
I don't even understand why you made this PC. Did you want more recognition for it? The only situations I could think of where a CE>PC conversion would make sense are the following.
CE>PC Single player.
The CE map works online even if people don't have the map.
To play CE maps on a Mac.
Please note. I'm not trying to get this out of the Outstanding forums, nor am I trying to make a repeat of what happened to Pepsi. I am merely trying to make sure that the Outstanding forums don't get cluttered with 100 average CE maps that were converted because they wouldn't get recognition otherwise.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, of course it is the other persons choice whether to listen to it or not. A good content creator will understand that there are people who should be listened to and take their opinions and suggestions into account. The experienced people are the ones to actually listen to, and (usually) what they say, is entirely correct.bcnipod wrote:I am going to tell you the same thing I told Mr. Brightsides once: If you cannot do better shut up. Also, if you are interested in seeing my latest work, which I would hope lets you see that I am quite qualified to give critique on models please refer to my post in the gallery thread.

When did I ever give the impression of being jealous? Im sorry but you are a blithering idiot, and you would do yourself a favour by just shutting up now, before making a bigger fool of yourself.Mr.Brightside wrote:Yes, and that was a horrible incident. Believe me, I am far from jealous, Im quite happy for him. Ive been helping him out with his modelling on occasion and Id like to think that I have contributed to where he is today.
As for you, I dont know what your problem is, if you do not like how I critique things, then you can go find somewhere else where its all this is good, I love it, with absolutely no real crit whatsoever.
CE and PC really have a close bridge with one another due to the converting processes that have been made.Ombre wrote:Correct me if I'm wrong, but this mod was made entirely using CE tools right? Really now, there isn't that much of a difference anymore.

Sounds like a personal attack not knowing how hard it might actually be to use those tools.

So what if he didn't take two years to do this mod?Cryticfarm wrote:All the other maps took way longer than that, andrew. If its outstanding anywhere, IMO it should be in the CE. The map shouldn't be about "Oh, I took seventeen years; it MUST be outstanding."
It's about the gameplay.
Did you even play the map?
It is quite enjoyable, and the outstanding section (Ombre) is for great maps/mods that this site would like others to try the most of, not so much new things like having moving teleports or the likes, but the gameplay.
You Admins and Moderators have really lost touch with the soul of this site's original cause, excluding Shadowkhas.Ombre wrote:But kudos to shadow for ignoring my statement on this and moving it anyways.
He must understand this concept to disobey your suppressing attitude, else I can't find any other reason to justify his actions.
You read my post, same applies to you as did Ombre.SHOUTrvb wrote:Ombre is right.

What he said.
You voiced you're opinion that it wasn't outstanding, and chose not to move it there. That doesn't mean that it still can't be. You're placing you're opinion above Khas' with that statement. If anyone's opinion is more valid it's his, I barely ever recall you saying anything in these forums until just recently, I've seen khas in here plenty of times. I believe that he's more in touch with what's current then you are.
Just because you dont feel it's outstanding Ombre doesn't mean it isn't. Shadowkhas felt it was, he moved it in there. If you don't like it, well quite frankly it doesnt matter one bit.

If there isn't much of a difference why not just join the two sections? The CE section is there for CE maps. This is a CE MAP. Not a PC MOD.Main wrote:CE and PC really have a close bridge with one another due to the converting processes that have been made.

Halo is limited to new bsp's? That's funny, for some reason I thought you could make new weapons, vehicles, skins, and effects. Boy was I wrong.Main wrote:Halo has limits... k?

The outstanding sections are for things that at the time of posting are indeed outstanding. At the time this was posted it was not outstanding, it was just good.Main wrote:So what if he didn't take two years to do this mod?

If one staff member thinks that something isn't outstanding, and another does, they should either discuss it amongst themselves before taking any action, or post a topic in the staff section to see what the majority of the staff think. Technically, Shadow is the one who put his opinion above mine. I just think that if he disagrees with a staff member like that it should be discussed before action is taken, not that my opinion should take priority over his. Am I required to post in order to be "in touch with what's current"? I was unaware that posting had anything to do with that. I read just about every Halo PC topic I see, to say that I don't know what I'm talking about because I don't post in every topic I read is just a good old fashioned fallacy.CallMeSheF wrote:You voiced you're opinion that it wasn't outstanding, and chose not to move it there. Let's break down your second part:
1) CE MAP
-Huge chunk of data used for Halo CE for scenarios.
2) PC MOD
-Huge chunk of data used for Halo PC for scenarios.
Ok, they both use different programs.
Now, throw in the converting process!
CE MAP is now: huge chunk of data for any Halo for scenarios.
K go.
Did I specifically say it was limited to BSP?Ombre wrote:Halo is limited to new bsp's? That's funny, for some reason I thought you could make new weapons, vehicles, skins, and effects. Boy was I wrong.Main wrote:Halo has limits... k?
No.
Taken out of context.
Halo can't just go around and say, "Look at me, I can now run all your favorite programs, run Halo, give you a cookie, take your dog out for a walk, give you cash for playing me, then totally give you a virtual thumbs up!"
Halo's engine can only do so much, and it HAS limits.
Your point null & void.
You're right on the part of the judging, I apologize.Ombre wrote:A logic class would do you good.Main wrote:At Mon May 19, 2008 3:31 am. One month ago.

Everyone has their own opinions.

CE and PC are entirely different.
With CE we were given almost unlimited acess to the Halo Development tools. The tools that were used to develop the game in the first place. This allows for a much broader variety of things that can be done, and the community of CE has pushed the engines to the limit with maps such as valkyrie (Sunny), sympathy (Mine), and SPv2 (CMT)
The PC mod tools do not allow for much other than reskins, and model edits.
This is in essence, a halo CE map, that was just patched into PC. It was developed using tools that were, and still are entirely unavailable to those making PC mods.

As far as I'm concerned there's no significant difference between CE mapfiles and PC mapfiles. But then I only work with them on a technical level. I see no reason to not put it into the HPC section since andrew_b is the creator and made it with the intent of it being playable for HPC. Whether this is outstanding or not I won't judge.
