Project working Gravity Rifle
Active camo in place of the flam graphic, Nice idea! A hud wouldnt be difficult to create, just activtaing to make it work, you could always just copy a hid from another gun, and modify it a bit. But the Grav rifle was supposed to be like that Sonic Gun in minority report. It was supposed to Blast someone far away, at the same time giving them damage. How would you make this invisible projectile that WOuld be able to create force, without impact? Well, actually, thats were it gets fun, that wouldnt be to hard, just copy ove the existing tank shell projectile, and remove the flames and contrail, But when it gives off its force, it would blast the shooter along with the victim, how would you cuase it to not effect someone on the otherside of the gun? COuld you force the Force to go in one direction? This would be a very cool gun to have tho, I just really belive it was supposed to be similar to that sonic gun in minority report, bending gravity with that sam look, and the active camo would be a very nice substitution, if you could only make that into an arc, or an explosion.

O.O i know this!! bent light looks the same as bent gravity. Bent gravity would look like nothing without light. The light slows down in that area and the gravity bends the surrounding materila, so the light hitting the surrounding material brings a "distorted" image to our eyes. In past games makers have simulated "bent" gravity with a somewhat distorted graphic. my thought is that is exactly what active camo does...unless im wrong.

heh heh, i just now realized what you guys were talking about, i replaced the plasma rifle with the grav rifle in bg, and i picked it up. First off, it looked really cool, could use some new touchups though. second off, no hud but there were sound fx. and then i noticed the flame, it spreads in a circle. beyond that i dont know, perhaps you guys could get it working so i can find out. i suggest talking to gearbox or bungie. they might help out.

I've been experimenting with some meta swapping to get the GR to produce that active camo effect, but to no avail. I can't even figure out how to get it to damage the target. The awful fact is that there just isn't enough stuff in the game to build on without a more serious editor. And without exact knowledge of how the gun was originally intended to work we just have to use our imaginations. If anyone else has some practical ideas or breakthroughs, please share them. But as for me, I'm setting this project aside until some more serious work can be done on it.
from my own experiences trying to mod the gravity rifle, we might need to create a new object -- as in, completely understand the metadata for the activecamo effect, and be able to duplicate it as a weapon's explosion, not projectile. perhaps having two activecamo objects in the map would allow for this to happen. I'll try to create a new activecamo effect by copying the metadata into a new folder.
