uh I read through this whole topic and you guys still haven't explained the point of this rehasher utility.
The one post that says this app isn't needed by 99% of people here that don't know anything, well that didn't explain jack.
The one guy that gave a summary of what it does, I still don't get what the benefit is there. I've done some hexediting here and there and also patched and hexedited a number of halo maps since the beggining of the saga. Granted I don't know jack when it comes to reverse engineering or creating maps graphics etc...
The one thing I am good at though is figuring out how to do something and coming up with ideas to make that something work, and I do a pretty good job at that myself.
So basically the only thing I can pull out on what this rehasher does is, possibly make it so that there isn't 2 copies of one map file or something like that.
Anyways The files.halomods I used to know has failed big time in the halo 3 department in my opinion. Anyways there is so much I could throw out there about this halo 3 community but I'm not going to say it because I'd be banned for it.
Other than that, I do like the forge link setup but its more of a copy to what bungie has on there site, there might be a bit more freedom here though.

It rehashes the usermaps. That is what it does. To use a modified usermap, you must rehash and then resign it. This does the rehashing. It just does. That's it. That's its purpose. If you have no use for it, don't use it, and don't come and rant about irrelevant garbage that has nothing to do with the topic. This community hasn't failed at shit. What do you expect them to do, buy everyone an $800 devkit? Go take your complaints to Xbox modders and ask them why we can't run unsigned code necessary for modding yet. Bitching about it here is pointless, because there's not a damn thing anyone can do about it. I'm sick and tired of listening to people whine about the same crap over and over. If you don't like it, leave.
