Visual Studio 2008 Professional's Icon not showing!

Post by Eaton »

Well, I renamed the main exe of Visual Studio to something else and then I renamed it back to what it was before and the icon no longer shows. Any ideas on how to make it show again?

It is expected, and demanded.

Right click it>Properties>Shortcut> Change Icon. Look around might be in there.

did you make it a .exe again? just asking because some items on your screen show the endings.

Take a Resource Hacker and look if the icon is still embedded.

It is.

Ok, I fixed it be just putting .exe at the end of the name. It is odd because it would open just fine before, but it shows again, so problem solved! :D

Odd, vista usually doesn't let you rename the .exe.

The full file name is now derenv.exe.exe. I just added another exe and it works.

May I ask why you renamed it?

When I run it as administrator, I didn't like it saying "derenv.exe" so I thought renaming it to Visual Studio would be a more fitting name.
