Tools for pipes and cylinder staircases .....

Finish a new model/mesh? Got something you're working on? Finish a new map? Here's the place to post it for feedback and whatnot.

Tools for pipes and cylinder staircases .....

Post by DD Godhand »

I have question about modding.

Let us say you have a big huge complicated level .. and you have all your
basic primitives in place and all that, but now you want to add shape dependant features like pipes running between buildings, spiral staircases, ect

is there a tool or a method that ( in 3dsmax) that lock or prevent you from moving that pipe inside the other shapes .. maybe like a hardening button or somthing like that so you can easily put small things in corners and line edges up.

Secondly is there a tool that i am not aware of, that will macth things like Helix's and stair cases to Cylnders? I tried to line it up by hand and i had some difficulty, even if i manually edit the parameters on the staircase to macth the radius of the cylnder i want to envelope. Its supposed to be
a Feul Rod Chamber for an anti-matter facilty that people can climb up to snipe from.

I'm a self admitted newb, but i think alot of people could benifit from an answer to this. thanks.

There is a way to make stairs and tubes.
In one creation category has stairs.
Another has cylinder/tube.
Just browse the creation options lazy one  :P

if you select the model you want to "harden", then right click, then click freeze selection, that'll make it so u can't accidently move or select the shape you froze, if thats what you want.

I know that. If you weren't to lazy to read my question completely .. ha.

I was asking if there was some kind of harden option for lining those peices up, so they don't fall into each other while i'm placing them.
