Forge map modding
Please provide a quote where they tell a member of this community to stop reverse engineering their game. Contrary to your beliefs, Bungie has repeatedly referenced the modding community with no ill-regards.
Anthony/Veegie was specifically asked to not let these things get out, hence the action being taken.
And to be perfectly honest, nobody cares what you say, because they aren't going to change their mind.

Open your Halo 3 booklet to the last page (33). It says "Unauthorized copying, reverse engineering, transmission, public performance, rental, pay for play, or circumvention of copy protection is strictly prohibited"Tural wrote:Please provide a quote where they tell a member of this community to stop reverse engineering their game.

Unless Bungie said to Anthony/Veegie "Hey go ahead and reverse engineer Halo 3", their reverse engineering is considered "unauthorized".
Just because Bungie hasn't stopped or tried to stop Anthony/Veegie, doesn't mean they condone it. If they wanted people to hack their game, Bungie would just release the source code, wouldn't they?
As for people not caring what I say, its obvious you do since to replied to my posts twice.

It says it its no but someone has got a dev xbox from bungie >_>
Besides it's perfectly legal to do mods as personnal use, patchs make it legal share information about how to do it is legal, tools are too because it is created from nothing...
the onyl thing that stops Anthony, Veegie, etc etc is that they respect bungie and they wouldn't like to see xbox live cheating or something because they are close to some bungie staff or well they have talked to em many times.

Just think. One day you go into Matchmaking and you go up against an entire team that have Assault Rifles fire rockets. Would you like that? I don't think so. They just want there game played the way it was meant to. Anthony and Veegie are trying to prevent that from happening and they are doing a good job so far.

Stop rambling about irrelevant stuff.Eaton wrote:Just think. One day you go into Matchmaking and you go up against an entire team that have Assault Rifles fire rockets. Would you like that? Post subject: Forge map modding
I think we are getting a little confused here people. Anthony, Veegie whoever can't mod Halo 3 on retail. None of them can cause Assault Rifle rocket launchers, because like you they can't. They don't have magic. There's no possible way for them.
What I mean by my original statement is that Bungie personally asked them (like MSN messenger ask them, of course they have to put that on their game, who doesn't. It's like a necessary legal statement I guess.) Bungie isn't one to cheer for mods after Halo 2 so you would understand their feelings.
They asked Anthony to keep his usermap mods (Forge mods, not any .map mods because he doesn't have those either. So, there really is no threat to MM or anything. They can only be played in custom games and forge if you want to be a smartass.

err...Right.
So, I created a pretty hilarious usermap the other day. It's 40 of the really big man cannons from Avalanche, all aimed straight up and right next to each other in a grid. It makes a big bouncy pit, and I built walls around it. My plan is for people to spawn above it with grav hammers (like one of those inflated bouncy things you used to play in as a kid)

That's completely irrelevant. This topic isn't about Forge variants, it's about Forge modding.
If you have a problem with them 'reverse engineering' Bungie games, why the hell are you coming to a Halo modding website?
Oh my.Mr N wrote:Well tell me then, why isn't it universal? Bungie has specifically stated that they do not want their software reverse engineered, yet respect for that wish is denied.Tural wrote:It isn't a universal concept. You're taking logic about one specific situation and applying it to another.Mr N wrote:What about Bungie's wishes to not have their software reverse engineered?
When it comes to Forge mods (which can't be used for cheating) not being released, they have respect.
Seems to me that the "logic" here is to respect their wishes, is it not?
