About to start, Level references

About to start, Level references

Ok fellas (and ladies) I'm about to begin work on my first real map. I've got a good idea and i've got a question or two before I start. Can somebody give me the approximate measures (3ds) of some of the Halo multiplayer maps so I can get a feel for how big I'm gonna make this thing. Maps i'm espescialy interested in are Hang 'Em High and Blood Gulch. Any help would be greatly appriciated!

P.S. The map is going to have a Hang 'Em High type feel to it (indoor greyish) and the basic design is finished and ready for modeling. However there are still several design elements I'd like community input on, so if this thing gets off the ground expect an update soon (after exams that is :( ) . Just a teaser, the map will be titled "The Laberynth".

have you played the tutorial level? It has Length: 3200.0 Width: 2400.0 Height: 1600.0

you could roughly from that work out what sort of scale factor you need to enlarge those values by to get a blood gultch type size or hang em high etc.

Alternatively you could use reference objects to resize the level until you think its the right size in comparison to the master chief, or a banshee, etc

make sure you merge your cyborg mp with ur map to se just how big your map will be you dont wanna make a map an then find out that its tiny

If youre using generic units(as suggested in the HEK), then every ten units equals one foot. I remember reading something that said mc is 7 ft tall, or 70 units in 3dmax.
I, personally, just pictured out my map in my head, and thought about the dimensions. I came up with 400ft by 300ft. Then i just converted that into 3dmax units 4000units by 3000units. I did the same for every other object. Just remember that 10 units = one foot.
