Negative Shapes

Post by RpgActioN »

I made a gmax scene of a map (no, its too shitty to be a good map, its just a shot at beginning mapping)... Well, I made the basic walls, and then I added boxes through the walls were I wanted openings so you can walk through them. I was told you have to set the boxes you put in the walls to negative to give it a hole in the wall, how do you set it to negative?

Here's the map....

Also, how do you make walls around a plane and roof over the tallest object?

Under compund obects choose Boolean, and then click "Pick Operand B" and click the object to "negative" (we say carve). As for the walls, you just have to make them, I think. And for the roof, same. Just clone the floor and move it up.

"Also, how do you make walls around a plane and roof over the tallest object?"

You should read teh HEK tutorial(the level creating part). It tells you how to make the "level" or box where everything goes inside. The box is the floor, walls, and roof and you just build everything inside it.

Since its gmax, a stripped down 3dmax, you can follow how to do it because the menus and stuff are almost exactly the same.
