The Official Pokemon Thread

Post by DrXThirst »

Well, I noticed that quite a few people here actually like Pokemon and play it frequently. So, I figured I'd start a thread for it. Here you can trade Pokemon, discuss, etc. Have fun and please try to not get this thread closed!

On a side note, I just recently bought an Action Replay for my Sister's Nintendo DS, and so I can give anyone any Pokemon that they want at any level from 2-50 on Pokemon Diamond / Pearl. (That's the game that I'm playing, I can give you can give you any Pokemon from ANY Pokemon Game.)

Also, this thread can have anything to do with Pokemon, but I had the Gameboy/Nintendo DS games in mind when creating the thread. The TV shows and Card Games are fail in my opinion.

The newfangled Pearl or other abstract new colors won't do it for me. Gimme the ol' Red or Blue.

It was the shit back when I was 10. I played the crap out of pokemon Gold on my Gameboy Color and later Advance. I beat it at least 10 times, most likely more, getting to kanto and beating the kanto league at least once each time. On one of the saves, my most glorious one, I trained Feraligatr to level 97 or something like that, and beat the Kanto league 5 times each with different pokemon. I was beast at that game. I had like a whole pokemon operation going--I knew how to get past every single obstacle in the game and explore every area to the fullest, as well as exploit all the glitches, and I even knew by heart every single weakness, i.e. grass ownz water, fire ownz grass, water ownz rock, etc etc. I still remember most of those now. Whew, I probably spent 200 hours plus playing that damn game. Oh, and then I got into the trading cards as well, and I still have an album of all my cards somewhere, even though I don't have a gigantic amount. All in all, that franchise took over my life, and I even remember that I went through some phases-at a young age, I was taken by it, then I stopped liking it for a long time, then I REALLY got into it again when one of my friends who was playing at my house dug out the gameboy and fired it up. Gooood times. 8)

Yeah, I haven't played Pokemon since '99 and then all of the sudden, about a month ago, I had this urge to play it.

It's pretty fun and addictive.

People who play Pokemon are more of a joke than people who play YuGiOh.

I've had blue for 9+ years and I recently bought pearl although I haven't played it much since beating the game.

Cards, which is the primary focus of the topic, else it would be in the games board, logically. Well really, by any stretch other than to say it is about the TV show, it should be in the games board.

Oh, I was going more towards talking about the Gameboy / Nintendo DS games. Not really board/card games and/or the TV Show.

I don't have anything to do with Pokemon, other than playing it on Nintendo DS. (And using Action Replay, of course.)

The battle tower is pretty fun, as well as the underground. There's also many, many side quests that are fun to complete. I can give you some good Pokemon to use on those quests, as well.

Ah.. Pokemon. I reminisce back to the time when I had to catch em all, and Mew was rarer than Recon could ever be. For the record, I still own my red version, and occasionally play my DS version. To top it off, I have all the 151 on my cartridge (Red version) from nearly 10 years ago, including a Mew, so I was pretty set when I upgraded. I don't think it's a childish game. If you take away all that extra TV and card shit, it's actually a pretty awesome game. Just not one I play on a regular basis.

If you're going to play a card game, play a real one. If you're going to watch an anime, watch a real one. But if you're going to play a hand-held RPG, play Pokemon.

I got all 151 one pokedudes on my Blue version, and since I was out of stuff to do in the game, I decided to use GameShark to go back and fight all the gym leaders again. I got stuck in Lt. Serge's gym. :(

I've either lost or sold all my old pokemon games, mainly because I don't have any gameboys left, but also because I can just play the ROMs on my PSP. :\

Do they play at Normal Speed? As in 100% exactly how they do on the Gameboy/ Nintendo DS?

Because I have played the ROMs on my computer and even though I have a really good computer at my Dad's house, I get around 120% speed on the rom, but it's very laggy and not as smooth as a DS. I thought it would be able to play them better...

That is the wisest thing I've ever heard said about Pokemon.
