Grand Theft Auto IV
Overall, I have no regrets over getting the game. While I don't agree that the game deserves a 10/10, as there are far too many problems I have with the game (I still have issues with the camera and movement after playing it for awhile, to name a couple), it's still up there as one of my favorite games, I just have a lot of fun while playing it. Multiplayer is just icing on the cake.
As for Tural's comment, I agree as well. I really don't care so much about those types of things, and I still find doing all those mini-games and such to be a bore, I want to kill things.
On the bright side, I finally realized you could aim at specific parts of a person while locking on to them (like their head or legs).

God fucking damn. Three-Leaf Clover is the most annoying mission I've had to play so far. fasjkddfkasdjfgnjkas

I finally had time to just sit down and rock out the game over the weekend. I think I've gotten pretty good, but I couldn't say for sure having not played anyone. That said, look for me online and we can party up. Oh, and if anyone cares, guess who spent more than 20 minutes with a 6 star ranking and successfully got out of it. I got it at the same time I got One Man Army, and it took nearly 45 minutes to get out of it alive.. I then proceeded to accidentally drive through a toll booth and was shot/killed instantly though.
And as much as I love this game, I have to agree with Kirk. It definitely doesn't deserve 10 stars. I mean, an easy 9.--, but 10 implies perfection, and this game does have a lot holding it back. Mostly a few glitches that were probably unnoticed during debug, but the learning curve on it was also very steep. I'm usually the type of gamer that can pick up a game pretty quickly and get fairly good, but this one took me several hours to get used to. I still have a few camera problems, and it's nearly impossible to drive in cinematic mode since cars turn either too slow or too fast. A lot of it is user error, but some of it is the game.
Though all that aside, I'd say I've played the game enough to give it a solid 9. Buy it if you don't have it.

See now I agree with the statement that 10/10 doesn't necessarily imply perfection, and I definitely will say that games have potential to achieve 10/10s. 10/10 instead, is the setting of a new standard... and many people agree that GTA has indeed set a new standard.
I, however, don't believe GTA IV has set a new standard. Possibly on some aspects of the game, however it does not set a new standard on many other levels. It seems sad that camera controls and the like would prevent a game from being a 10/10, but I can't deny that aspect of the game was a bit annoying. That also is not the sole reason either, there are several other things plaguing it, such as the graphical anomalies (including but not limited to the poor framerate I experience occasionally, and yes, I consider this the games fault, the fuzzy diffusion maps or whatever, etc), and inconsistency in the game.
It's by no means a bad game, in fact it's quite good, but it's not a 10/10.

The game is awesome but it's definitely not flawless. Pool comes to mind.

I don't understand how you guys are having trouble with the camera; seems fine to me. :\
Also, I would say this deserves a 10/10, and that it does set a new standard: This is the most consistently fun/interesting game I have played in a really, really, really long time; it sets the standard, IMO, of a consistently fun game, that doesn't get boring fast (much like the other GTA games, again, IMO). There may be a few in-game errors, and there are a few features from other GTA games I would have liked to have (PLANES, JESUS FUCK, PLANES, GOD DAMN), but if you look at a game overall, then I would have to say it's perfect.
EDIT: Also, I beat it the other day; ~30 hours. How did I play for thirty hours and not notice it? >_>

I'm 20% in now Loving it. Got a lot more weapons, a lot more ammo and I got a kool suit and shoes from Pegasus or whatever its called
I've only run into one probem. And that wass with "the streets!!!!11!!!" guy. Following someone glitched about 5 times. He'd just sit at a set of lights each time. But I'm passed that now.

~65% completion. Shit. I'm gonna have a ton of stuff to do to get 100%.

Well, I suppose on a very broad scale, the game merits a 10/10. I mean, there are certainly several other 10/10s with many more errors that achieved the score, so I suppose it's only fair. However, a more harsh rating, like the ones most of us have given, though still high, are more accurate to the game's details.
Me: Hey, you should get on Halo 3 and help XiL Revolution get his 50.
XiL Orion: Well, I would, but my Mom and brother are hogging GTA IV.
Me: Your Mom? All you do is kill people and have sex.
XiL Orion: Yeah, I know. She does it and has fun.
Me: O.o - Is she available?

The bottom line is that it's a fantastic game. It doesn't matter if it's a 10/10 or a 2/10, GTAIV goes down as one of the best games in awhile.SHOUTrvb wrote:Well, I suppose on a very broad scale, the game merits a 10/10.
