If it is subconscious they cannot tell you definitively that it affects them. You are contradicting yourself again.

Ugh: I use the word subconscious less than literally: I simply mean they do it without thinking about it.

But like snowboarding and doing things without thinking about it, you can recall some of it if you think about it awhile.

This thread is just a stupid argument and you know it. Neither side is going to move at all. It is not a discussion, it is not a debate, it is a senseless argument that is only serving to incite anger and frustration between members. There is absolutely nothing constructive here, at all.

No.
I, and others, have repeatedly pointed out several problems with your claims. What is your response? "Oh, that doesn't count. I am right because it could happen maybe somewhere to someone maybe-ish."

You have no evidence. You cannot claim anything. Even if you could, this is still not going to be a discussion. Avatars do not carry messages, posts do. Avatars do not affect the poster's mannerisms, they are a representation of the poster, not a method of expression. If it were intended as an expression, it would have to change with every post. If I post a nice message, your entire argument is dismantled. Oh wait, no it isn't, because you'll just say "Those posts don't count in my selective logic that applies when and where I say so because that's the way it works."

This is not a discussion.
This is not a debate.
This is an argument and it is contributing negatively to the board.

I lack the required motivation to quote myself 20 times and explain it all... again <_<

Ugh: right: you all assume I mean this is a large effect. Its a small effect, subtle.

Then who cares? It does not have any significant effect on posting or the forum as a whole.

It was merely an exploration into an aspect of the forums.

And yes: change your avatar to a pink heart for a month and let's see what happens.

Not to take sides with Tural, but I probably wouldn't think anything of it. I'd just match the heart with Tural for the said time.

Who Cares? They don't know shit to begin with. With time they will learn. Find who has the place on the boards.

Cuda's not flaming. He's stating a fact. Someone new to the site is most likely not going to know a particular member's personality right off the bat.

I mean yeah, moderators are always right, here, right?

If you learn some psychology and sociology you'll know more about how people think and act, besides as Tural said the choice of the avatar can be unconscious, but what unconscious is is what is deep in your mind, you dreams and what you really are, what you really fear the most vicious desires are in your unconscious part of your mind.

Sometimes you make unconscious choices but it's not that unconscious it's a feeling that you can be refusing that can be show by a simple choice, and an images represents a lot of things which is a much more accurate way to judge people than by the way the can post on a forum.

I was kinda thinking it is very much in relation to clothes. Sometimes clothes can explain certain things (thinks back to that why people hate goths thread)

I change my avatar and signature about once a month.
I'm 100% with Tural, because most of the time, I'll scroll down the page skimming the left side, looking for an avatar of someone who posts what I'll read.

Visual. That's all.

No one is going to think you're goth, because you have a little face of a white guy that's sad or something. I mean, there could be people like you, that would change their avatar depending on their emotion at that time, but most people find one that they like and stick with it.

When reading a post the eye will always look a the avatar to identify the poster
:P i dissagree with this. I look at the sig more often then the avitar to identify someone.
