I recently got my signature removed because it was too big.

While I have no problem with the rules, it's a bit annoying to lose my sig. I now have to find the links and quotes again; it's not easy.

Again, I have no problem with the rules and punishments, I just think some forewarning should be involved. Like a PM saying "Your sig is too large; you have 24 hours to change it," would be very, very helpful.

Through example, I've learned what (I think) is the best way to deal with oversized sigs. It's just my idea.

Why is the staff responsible for you following the rules? You should know when you make it that you're breaking the rules. It's not hard to remember 500x120, 3 lines of text with an image, 5 lines without one. A huge issue is reports. During that 24 hours, rest assured 5 reports would come in about your sig, and there isn't any way we can tell users to not report it. Then not only does the staff have to send you a PM, but we also have to deal with a bunch of reports about it. It's a gigantic hassle that you are pawning off on the staff. Just follow the rules and you won't have problems. We should not have to issue warnings and deal with all that stuff because someone chose to not read the rules. You don't want it removed, then you can abide.

The only problem is that I've seen sigs with two quotes and an image and I started to doubt if anyone enforced the "sig is two lines of text" rule, which is why I put another line of text. But whatever; I'm not an admin, so I don't control the matter. It was just a suggestion; this thread is clutter now.I read the rules, by the way.

Edit: Actually, shouldn't there be a way to salvage the sigs or . . . eh, you know what, screw it. I don't know the things admins can or can't do, and I know Halomods has a lot of people and few admins, so I guess Tural is right.

Tural I understand the position that the admins and staff are in with the reports, but i just thought that if you could do a 24 hour thing, then just add a line of text to sig saying "You have 24 hours to remove or resize" in some colour so it is visible, or something. That way people should not report more than once.

So to solve the problem of people breaking rules, we should further break the rules.

How about we put it out there as a recommendation that staff members PM a member their original signature. We are not going to require it, nor are we going to change the rules to pander to people who break them. If you want to avoid losing your sig, avoid breaking the rules. The 10 seconds it would take you to check is a lot quicker than the time it's going to take to find all of your stuff again. It is entirely, 100%, in the control of the user, and we are not going to require staff to do even more work by still forcing them to edit the signature and send a PM because of an ignorant user. That's just unreasonable. "Well, we know the users are giving you extra work by breaking rules, so we decided to fix this by giving you even more work, and then potentially having to remove their sig anyways if they don't oblige. We should punish the user for breaking rules, but nah, let's just make the staff work harder to deal with it while giving users a free ride and making sure they are not held responsible for their own actions."

My views are if you can't be bothered to have the courtesy to read the rules, I can't be bothered to have the courtesy to keep your signature intact. Tough break.

I stopped talking when I saw the naivety of my position. I read the rules, and I misunderstood some stuff. Now like three more people than necessary are posting. Tural said all that needed to be said.
