Help a beginner at modding halo trial!!!!!

I'm a beginner. I'd like to mod Halo trial.

I've downloaded "Sparkedit" and "Halo Map Tools 3.5", but, when I try to open bloodgulch.map with both of them, the file doesn't open.

Why? Can someone help me? thanks. :?

Honestly I would recommend if you do trial, that you start at a site like ClanHalo for modding, then work your way up, there is not much support for Trial on this site, but almost everything is the same.

You will need the sparkify.ppf for the map your modding. I forget where you can get it, but if i'm not mistaken, it's on these forums somewhere.

Ok, It partially works with Sparkify.
I said that it "partially" works because when I open bloodgulch.map with Sparkedit, It appers me this window:

And then, if I click on OK, the map in Sparkedit appers me in this strange way:

Why? What do I have to do?

I'd like to make a mod in which I add the neddles-weapon in in bloodgulch. If it is possibile, I'd like to add it and not to swap it with a weapon that already exists in the map. Then, I'd like that, when a neddle hits a vehicle, it makes it fly away. Is it possible? :roll:

I believe that you have to set the bitmaps.map path correctly. I'm not sure if it's the same for trial, but it can be set in 'tools > options'. It should be in the same folder as your map. To add the needler to the map without replacing another weapon, you'd have to rebuild with a new item collection. I would say that's my area, but I believe rebuilding trial maps is a fuzzy area.

Yeah i kinda found that this site doesnt have much tutorial help as well

OK, thanks, now Sparkedit works, but I have an other problem. :roll:

I swaped the flamethrower with the neddler using Halo Maps Tool 3.5. But when I create a multiplayer match it appers me this window (maybe because I have Halo Trial):

And then the game closes itself.


Can someone help me?
Can someone say me how i make a vehicle fly, when a neddle hits it?

To make the vehicle fly, you need to change the force of the needle, there is a tut somewhere. I know there is.

I think thats because you need to change the header in the map back somehow. If not, can you explain how you swapped it with a needler?

What do you mean? Do I have to write for example bloodgulch1.map?

To swap it I used Halo Mapping Tool 3.5. I opened the weapons tag, then I selected "flamethrower", then "Swap", then I selected "weapons/needler", and then "Save".

go to a main trial support sight. the flamethrower is a very glitchy gun from the start. so recomend not messing with it until you have a pretty good understanding of what you are doing. i do not consider meta swaping a good understanding.

[jpt!] weapons\needler\detonation damage
Set the force of the damage to about 5. If you want it higher, make it higher; don't be too crazy though. It will make vehicles and spartans fly.
