Now I kind of understand why almost all of this site left.
A while back, it was mandatory of myself to come here and read all the threads and reply, and just sit there and hit refresh every once and a while to see if there's any new posts.
Now, I really don't care much. I only get on once a day or so, and I don't post as much as I used to.

I just sit here refreshing every 5 minutes if I'm not playing a game. Sucks being in a time zone where everyone is asleep at 11PM.
Not really what you were saying, but the forums'll pick up a little bit, once everyone realizes the site is back up. It's not going to be near what it once was, though.
I definitely need a new site to lurk on though (in addition to, not replacing this), there just isn't enough activity here nowadays.

I've been thinking exactly that, Kirk.
I used to be able to refresh every ten minutes and read something new, now I literally don't come on here for a good few hours.
I think it's partly down to the fact that there's been nothing new with regards to modding lately... or at least that's how I see it.

I as well, except replacing. I don't care about Halo, nor modding anymore. I'll never mod Halo 3, and it's very unlikely I'll even play it regularly. Problem being that there are few active sites with a userbase that isn't idiotic.Kirk wrote:I definitely need a new site to lurk on though (in addition to, not replacing this), there just isn't enough activity here nowadays.

I think that the forums is dying because there really isnt anything to bring people here anymore. Modding is getting to the point where you say stuff like been there done that. Just about everything that can be done has been done. Theres alot more left to find for Halo 2. I think Custom BSP for Halo 2 would make people alot more happy. The facts are that the information is out there but people just wont tell us anything. Prometheus is suppose to do alot of the things we all desire but nothing is coming from it at all. We have been waiting for years but nothing is happening with it at all. Theres no updates or information about it. In my mind thats the only way the site would be revived. But I also see other sections dying. The Graphics section isnt as active as before. Theres nothing to spice up what we do here any longer. Halo 2 doesnt even Have a proper model injector, all the models I make and inject look really bad ingame. There isnt much for me to mod out there and its the same for others too. Most people dont have a good enough Pc for games that support those kind of features and plus I love and enjoy modding Halo. The problem is the content not the people. Theres gotta be something to bring people here.
Theres also other ways that could in fact help. More visual applications like being able to place things in real time instead of punching in coordinates and hoping to god its not messed up when you start the game. Its defiantly a hard situation when you start modding. You don't really know what anything means and it all looks like gibberish to you but its really fun and exciting at the same time because you get to play with a lot of things. The availability and freshness of things has expired. No one is going to want to come back to the same old same old. The community has kind of givin up on what we are really here for. I dont think that theres enough options on thing to do for Halo any more. Bungie will never release anything for Halo 2 at all because thats kind of in there code of conduct. As a community I think it possible to bring our knowledge together and figure out what we need to do for a lot of things and the people out there with the information to do all the stuff we need right now, why hold it? When its released there will be no one around to use it. There would be no point in releasing it 6 months from now or a year from now.

Agreed...the only reason I stay on here is for the Cafe section, I've given up on real modding quite a bit ago...maybe once in a while I'll tool around with Eschaton and see what fun stuff I can make, but really...school is much more important now, and even with games, Halo PC isn't that great...VO is much better.
I really just like all of the normal discussions we have here.

i agree with dark. The main reason im here lately is due to halo 3. H2 modding has slowed down for me mostly because i havent hooked up my original xbox much since i got my 360 and the fact that my friend is borrowing my h2 disc doesnt help. I would continue to mod h2 if i got any good ideas, and had that damn disc back. I just cant wait till some form of public h3 mod is able to be done.

As for content, heck yeah I follow that. I can't think of new ways to mod anymore... But that's not the main thing stopping me, I just don't have the patience. The app that provides me with the most features just so happens to be filled with bugs and kills your map at the first chance it gets. the biggest thing that's always turned me off my mods (I have a bunch of dead ones never seen

oh wait, wrong topic >_>
Oh yeah, new ways to mod, I'd totally try doing that

So honestly, that extra spark for h2 modding I don't think will really pick up again...
Also, Halo 2 looks incredibly dull next to halo 3. I mean literally here, I really dislike looking at halo 2 default
>.< i really want to research the h3 shad and effect tags. I want to find weird things like i did in H2. Speaking of h2, the only thing i could find that would be of any use is anything dealing with the phmo most likely.
Things like ragdoll collision.
