Woah. I felt this eathquake for sure. Funnily enough, my geography teacher didn't.

Anyway, it was sort of scary, because I thought that it was just a gust of wind.

I never was making fun of Al Gore, quite honestly I think he's brilliant. Also, I know global warming isn't the cause of earthquakes. I had nothing better to do but anywho, enough of this.

Glad to hear everyone's alright. Here in California we don't really find earthquakes all that special. I've only been through one myself though...scared the shit outta me and almost threw me off my bike...

Actually, they could.

For instance, global warming can cause (and, does cause, unless I'm proven otherwise) glaciers to melt. What this means is that upward pressure from plates that would normally be stabilized by the downward force of the glacier is allowed to be released, causing earthquakes. This only applies to places in colder climates, like where I am, Alaska.

As far as the average person goes, the only difference this "Global Warming" does is change the temperature... a LOT of crap is fucked with when you change the temperature, so no, pretty much nothing is directly effected in the way you talk about it.

In all fairness, I guess he could have thought of Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory...but I was just saying that it is indeed an actual theory (and that is what Kirk was referring to, I believe), not just the title of a game.
