A shader is what combines all the bump maps, normal maps and detail maps together to create a smoother more realistic look and feel. In the shader tag there are idents that refrance the bitmaps used for the shader. If u cange the shader of an object the bitmap will obviously change with it so you would have to relink the bitmap to the different shader.

Yea; I'll fine some more useless technical info that anybody can find in a matter of secounds for youas well
Google:
# A shader defines the final surface properties of an object. For example, a shader can define the color, reflectivity, and transluscency of a surface.

# A Shader in the field of computer graphics is a set of software instructions, which is used by the graphic resources primarily to perform rendering effects.

Re: shaders and bitmaps
Changing/swapping shaders can potentially serve an adverse affect if not properly utilized.rick6969 wrote:if you wanna skinand if i do a skin will changing shaders overwrite my skin

As in, if you apply a shader to something that doesn't really go, then it will make the object or surface look horrid.rick6969 wrote:tanks for the ansers but kibito87 what do you mean adverse effect
Example: Using a metal shader for some kind of natural element, such as, a tree...dunno why you would, but it's an example.
