Halo 3 DLC armor

Post by Dstin1 »

Did Bungie even make it so armor is downloadable/updatable? Like are the armors their own file on the disk, or are they just a model in every map?

There's no way we could possibly know.. However, it would be incredibly stupid of them not to, and it's very, very likely that they did make that a possibility.

They are models within the maps.

So if their models in the maps, DLC couldn't change EVERY map. If they did give it the ability to add new armors, the maps must check an alternate source for more models, right?

and I'm just curiouse because I havent heard Bungie mention once about new armors, and thought maybe some modders would able to define if it was possible to update them or not. But I guess Halo 3 is too new to figure out that.

The models are stored in a shared map, likely mainmenu.map. They are not in every map.

Bungie said they have no plans for DLC armor right now, as they are currently devoting their time to maps, however, they did not rule it out as a possibility.

Because injecting models isn't that good in halo 2 and noone really went out of their way to make it work well...I mean improve upon it. (I'm not being bitter there).

I'd be interested in better armour for the elites. the heads were creative but their bodies and shoulders seemed extremely basic. When they do (yeah note the when not if :P) I just hope they are priced fairly...As I really think it'd be charged for. But then they'd have to work out a way of getting armour to show up to non buyers.

Scotty, they could make an AU so every one can see (like everyone has models) but you have to buy DLC for them to go from hidden/locked to unlocked

just my 2 cents

i think that most likely the halo 3 armor permutions are in the shared.map of halo because it is more of something that is used in everymap so it has to be available in shared.map. If a new armor permution was made it would patch shared.map most likely of all. And new armor perms are going to be about 800 MS points because that is the average price for everything they sell on the market place.

They will not charge $10 for something as trivial as armor permutations. The only way I could possibly see that is if it was a pack of ten or more.
DEEhunter wrote:800 MS points is the average price for everything they sell on the market place.
Actually, it isn't. Furthermore, there is little to even support that. Based on your statement, you are including all videos, gamerpics, themes, etc, which would dramatically drive the average down. On top of that, even if you were only talking about game content, it still would be less than 800 average.

Seems like it should have been something they should have thought of when they were setting up the system, I think it would have been a great idea.

Plus, more money for them, and that's what it's all about, neh?

If you think about it, if you could pay for recon armor, Bungie would have a lot of more money.

Well, with the grand amount of money they got for the halo 3 launch, and more from then DLC maps, I don't think they would give up the only thing in that game that sets them aside from everyone else for just a bit more cash.
