No, I didn't mean custom animations. I was referreing to making a vehicle with a biped fly from point A to point B. Like in campaign mode how some vehicle movements are scripted (pelican for one).reanimation-06 wrote:So sometime in the future, would it be possible to script moving vehicles with bipeds and such using this tool?
Great job, btw.

Pelicans and Covenant Dropships are not scripted, but recorded animations. Recorded animations are used in place for vehicle movement, because scripting can cause it to erratically move to a spot it is not supposed to, or how it was controlled. This is why recorded animations were made. However, Bungie did not like the tedious work for making those said animations, so after Halo 1, they decided to rework the engine, to allow AI to control vehicles. These AI could not fight, only drive vehicles that could not be usable by a player, such as a Pelican/Phantom. These drivers would be invisible, but in Halo 3, you can see the Pelican driver, but not the Phantom driver.

Recorded animations are scripted in a way. An example would be like:BrainEater wrote:Pelicans and Covenant Dropships are not scripted, but recorded animations.
Code: Select all
(recording_play_and_delete foehammer_cliff foehammer_cliff_out)
@tyler
Can you show me the script (if its my default one or not) and the error it displays, picture of screen at moment would be nice.
@ShadowSpartan
//respect
Can you by any chance explain the syntax "header" (the first syntax with the syntax count and such..) because i have found out all its info yet.
@Self
things to fix/add
-global support
-2+ script compiling
-look into mac version error

When I created the script extractor, Choking Victim and I did not use any kind of syntax "header" to navigate through the syntax data. Keep in mind that this was my first big app, I had never done programming for Halo before. I have improved a lot since then, but if you really want to know how I did it (even though it is really sloppy), then I can explain some of it. If I can even remember it, since it has been so long. I have thought about going back and messing with script extraction some more, improving the speed of my app and such, but I have so many other programs to get done so thats at the bottom of my schedule. Anyway hit me up on AIM or a PM.conure wrote:@ShadowSpartan

i dont understand you main. It seems that if i say something you always must comment it back like im some dumbass. Why should i write a tut so it can work on a mac. Conures taking care of it. Also im not on a mac so it would be pointless...and macs have PPC...It would be a waste of my time. How about YOU learn how to do it and take all the credits? or are you too leet to do work anymore...

Well, you obviously got this to work, I figured you'd share some light on the rebuilding process.Andrew_b wrote:iWhy should i write a tut so it can work on a mac. Conures taking care of it.
If you spent this much time into a tutorial, instead of all these reasons why not to, you'd have it done already.Andrew_b wrote:Also im not on a mac so it would be pointless...and macs have PPC...It would be a waste of my time.
Oh, and just so you know: Just a statement, not a 'personal grudged attack'.
I don't mod Halo anymore, really.Andrew_b wrote:How about YOU learn how to do it and take all the credits?
Nothing has sparked my interest until this popped up.
Nup, it's out of my league to do this scripting stuffs.Andrew_b wrote:or are you too leet to do work anymore...
Lol, a personal attack on a misunderstanding.Andrew_b wrote:Main wrote:Even I'm failing
Voided.
You're missing the point, Andrew.Andrew_b wrote:I fail to realize how i would have a mac tut in 5 minutes when im on a pc....
Forget the Os war and your irrational thoughts of the 'better Os'.
The point is, I wanted you to type out what you did to make it work for you, and then it may give Macintosh users a better understanding of what you did.
