I don't understand...Are you to design a new piece of software and showcase it? Or do we just need to show you a pre existing piece of software that is excellent and you document why its so excellent to people in April?

Here's one: Microsoft Windows XP. Without it, most people wouldn't even come near a computer. It makes everything work together without the pain of yesterdecade compatibility headaches.

Windows can be seen everywhere. Start with something that starts the computer and makes it run. I don't think you could get an easier A. ;)

I don't think the appropriate topic would be a program designed to perform illegal activities.

Present an executable packer. You can't stuff any more intelligence into a program. It includes everything, algorithms etc. xD

You can even go about history, why they are vital in modern society etc.

How major companies add malware to their programs to gain money and to avoid AntiVirus protection...etc.

:P i did havok with my presentation last semester. Hammer is an interesting idea but i dont think a mapping program would be approved by my teacher. I got away with havok cause its used for more then just simple props in games.

Adobe Illustrator. It always seems to be dwarfed by the use and expanse of Photoshop, and I think it's power as a design program is highly overlooked by it's sister program.
