But who gets to decide if it's legitimate or not?..Who gets to complain that so and so got their name changed, and your reason is similar, but yours was denied?..

My life is just easier this way...And my life being easy is all that matters... ;o)
Were you talking about me, about the name change??? Well then you should have one of the staff members head of the name change and he could decide if it is a legitimate reason.

Or not and have no name changes at all.

I honestly see no logical reason why they shouldn't be allowed. It's easier to track then making a new account, it prevents them from having to lose any emblems or mods linked to them, you could appoint somebody to do just name changes and no other moderating, and that person could judge whether or not it was a legit reason to have it changed.

I've seen a case very very recently where somebody on this site's name was changed simply because he didn't like the name he picked earlier, and had a few characters lobbed off the end of his name. latinomodder has a legitimate reason for it, he is being racially harrased and attacked, and wished to change his name to help curb that a bit. I dont see the issue here, you dont have to do it yourself I_F or Kirk, pick somebody to be in charge of name changes and have them use their judgement to decide if there is a just reason behind it. It causes you no harm, doesnt take time out of anybody's life but the volunteer, and allows for cases like this to be solved without a 3 page topic of arguments over it.

But this is not a democracy, the users dont make the rules the staff and moderators do, so do as you see fit. Im just putting in my opinion and trying to prove that it really causes no problem.

Why are the staff responsible for fixing a problem the user is creating for themselves? If they want a new name, they have complete control over it. No staff involvement is required.

Outside of the forum. It doesn't fucking matter if his name was "I'maBeaner", the point is that no one here is racially harassing or attacking him. If anyone does, they would get banned. End of story.

Seriously, it's fucked up. If an attack happens here it will be dealt with. The answer seems to be no, and always no, and no way around it, i suggest it is time to give up.

IMO, I think it's terrible that you are being attacked, but we can't control what happens off of these boards. I feel for you, being racially pinpointed, but to be honest, you kind of brought it on yourself by signing up with account name that does pinpoint race. Thats Like me picking RiceCracker instead of Cuda. but theres really no more to be discussed here, and I, and most likely the staff, do not want to argue what can and cannot be grounds for a name change anymore.

I don't get the link between latinomodder and beaner. Is it because maybe he likes coffee beans in his cereal?

"Beaner" is derogatory slang for a Mexican or generally anybody who is of hispanic decent.

@lx Leo xl: Look, if you want another name, create another account. You could have created all other 5 by now (you've wasted that much time arguing about it).

Just create an account. Nobody is responsible for how somebody else is treating you outside of this forum (nobody can control that). You should have thought about calling yourself "latinomodder". Its like me having the nickname, "Slavmodder", because while technically I could, I would get insulted.

My 2 Cents.

If name is to be changed do it and then lock

If not why is this still open... to keep conversation on a stalemate?

Sorry latinomodder, but it seems like you

Yes, it is left open to keep the conversation on a stalemate...C&S isn't an overly active forum on the board, so locking the topic really serves no purpose other than to stifle conversation...And, stifling conversation isn't what a forum is about...The question has been answered, and my opinion on the subject isn

I never really minded giving name changes back when I had the authority to do so. If someone had a legitimate reason to change the screen name, as I personally believe is the case here, I'd have no problem granting the change. Sure, it's good to make sure users do not take advantage of the ability to have their names changed, but I never found it to be as controversial as it seems to be in this thread.

I feel like if the kid wants his name changed because people who know him from this board are attacking him outside of it just because they dont want to get banned then sure, I mean if a kid named IRTEHPWNSAUCE wants to change it to LULULULULUL because he thinks its teh cool, well then know, it should be dealt with day by day, simply give a legitimate reason that more than 4 people can agree on and just do the freaking change, the world isnt going to end and sooner or later you'll catch on to the fact that the user got their name changed and is now referred to as such.

I see no problem what so ever with that.

You are replying to a dead topic when a flat answer has been given. Nobody is causing problems with him on the site, there is absolutely no reason why he needs it changed. If he wants a different name, he is free to register a new account.

Wouldn't it be better to lock this to keep more uneeded comments (such as my own) from coming up?
