iBotPeaches isn't in the Reader's Club, and its User Notes are clear. If it's banned, someone didn't do their job right.
Not to mention that its last post was over a year ago...

That problem shouldn't be occurring anymore. It may have been a problem in the past, but now there's a way where members can be aware of what they did. As it stands now though, a RC is almost always issued, and a ban is only given if the person keeps causing problems, such as flaming via PMs (The main reason). Your ban was probably in the days before the RC system, and thus there wasn't anything like that to notify or give you a warning. That sort of problem doesn't exist anymore, and hasn't for a while.
I don't see any posts on that account that would lead to a ban. May have been an error.

This is getting close to the Patriot Act type of thing.
I've got to be honest though, what's the point of a PERSONAL message if it's not personal and any staff member can read it... I'm not so sure I like that. I don't think our personal messages are any of the staff's business unless addressed to them.

Staff can't read PMs. He is talking about Evan. Evan PMed KOH_Church saying "mods are a bunch of fagots" or something very similar, KOH_Church sent that to me, and Evan was punished for it.kibito87 wrote:This is getting close to the Patriot Act type of thing.

It's very much like if someone called you and told you they were going to kill someone, so you called the police on them. Yes, they didn't say it to the police, but that doesn't mean they can say it.

Honestly, I think I might.GametagAeonFlux wrote:Saying their name would be helpful. It's not like you/they will be prosecuted for it.LuxuriousMeat wrote:someone I know
And Evan sent that because he was angry because he typed out a big post helping the guy and when he posted it the topic was already closed by Tural. And Evan sent that kid a PM saying that and included his post. And what are people not allowed to have opinions anymore or something? Planning to kill someone is nothing like talking bad about someone on the internet.
People are free to have opinions. Saying "mods [or any other members, for that matter] are being a bunch of fagots" is not permitted here. I don't know how you're expecting to defend a comment like that...
"Planning to kill someone is nothing like talking bad about someone on the internet." It was a situational analogy to explain the use of PMs between members, and it was a logical one at that. Well obviously the two are nothing alike. It gives an abstract scenario a concrete, real-world situation to compare to.

Constructive opinions, sure. Calling a group of people faggots for no reason other than to be slanderous is not a constructive opinion, it's flaming.LuxuriousMeat wrote: And what are people not allowed to have opinions anymore or something? It was directed towards Tural, and Tural only. I don't really think he meant it anyways; he was just angry because he took the time to type it all out and then he couldn't post it because it was already closed.GametagAeonFlux wrote:Constructive opinions, sure. Not when he didn't mean them, people say and do stupid things when they are angry and especially when what he did didn't affect anyone I don't think he should have been put permanently in the readers club. I mean, I was put in it for offering someone a map, which I didn't know was against the rules (I only thought physically posting a link to one was) and I was only in it for a week. And if I was put in it for a week for thinking about doing something actually illegal then why is he there permanently for calling someone a bad name?Tural wrote:So he's not responsible for those words?
There is no black and white "If you do this, you get this punishment." He blatantly called the staff faggots, that's a pretty severe instance of flaming. He is held accountable for his actions, regardless of whether he "meant it" or not. With cases of intense flaming like that, it is frequent to see a permanent RC, if not a ban from the site.
Edit: He's been removed, the sentence can just be called a week. Discussed it with I_F, decided, being his first offense, a permanent sentence was too harsh.

While were talking about Reader's Club. My account was made roughly 2 years ago before the Forums merged, or I don't remember. It was a long time ago. Now that I'm banned still without reason. Could I have that account back? I hate posting from this account, as no one who I know, knows it. (If that made sense)
After reading above, I'm now not bashing current mods, but now glad of the new member banning system.
I've been here since August of 06, and support this site greatly. Please

So I forgot about the site, till I moved, got new IP etc, and I could resign up as this account.

So your saying Tural and I can't say...and I quote...myself
"Oh, and to all you phonies, quit sucking d*ck." hahaha, gotta laugh.
What if your not a phony?
Then I wasn't talking to you.
Ok, 2 day RC for, umm, saying dick? Understandable; somewhat. Then, in a private message I stated who it was toward. How did a private message get public? Oh, that's right...a disrespectful Staff member. That Staff member only got support after "universally" knowing that it is morally wrong to post private information; even if it is intended toward somebody. What ever I had said is not important atm, the fact is that I got a permanent "Reader's Club"-ed for a Staff member getting upset that I did not "decide" to stop replying offensive opinions toward him. I apparently stopped...somehow I am still RC'd for replying to him? If I were to have said this exact statement toward zzJo3zz, I would have not had the same punishment. It is like walking up to a police officer and saying, "Man you cops suck dick!" He can't put me in a prison! He can press charges as "Verbal Assault" but that is it. Unless you are going to press charges against me, I think stating an offensive opinion about somebody is permissible; as long as it is not posted in a public situation. Therefore, posting information in a private message is fine. This is an opinion. Take it easy pigs.
