the STAFF

Post by ohnoohdear »

(i did read the power abuse topic, but this isnt like that)

this is continued off the rant thread, and i quote from there
Veegie wrote:Anyone that continues to complain about how Staff manages issues in this thread will receive a two-day RC,

that was in the rant topic in the cafe, meaning that you can only RC me for one other reason... if you need more info, look at the rant thread, although someone probably aready deleted all the posts cuz theyre scared to get a negative spotlight

about SOME of the staff....

they do abuse their powers. NOT ALL OF THEM, AND NOT ALL THE TIME, but some. im not saying this because of getting RC, or a topic locked, or anything. i mean theres shit goin on on here. they really dont follow the rules. kirk, your a good admin, but im not gonna let this go till i get my point. me and DeadHamster are the only 2 that stand up for ourselves? Im comin out now, im Dead XX Matt, and i had a membership before Dead XX Matt. i understand that ill most likely get a pernament ban, on this and Dead XX Matt, but no matter, i gotta get shit straight. Veegie, you wont ignore it, you jsut wont talk back cuz you know we're right. im not challenging you, your doin it to me, and about half the halomods population. youve offended countless amount of times. i remember, IRC, like 2 years ago... i dont remember exactly what happened, but you where being obnoxious. you had me banned from IRC for NOTHING, straight up nothing, and you lied so that i could get banned. even genederic said "im sorry, you may have done nothing but i have to take word from moderators" and at that time, you werent moderator, someone else was but they were on your side. enough of the past, i jsut needed to let people know how it was. i know a good amount of people in here are getting aggravated because... well what im talking about! how the staff can be. the staff can also be good.. but RARELY, and barley. its crap that staff can get away with all that we cant. just cuz they have power. just look around at some of their posts. they dont even give WARNINGS. im talkin veegie, tural, and a load of others (i cant remember anyone elses at the moment, sorry you dont get the honor to be in my outburst :()

im done for now. i have more, but im not gonna put it up right yet.

atleast one of the admins of the forums agree with me...

This is why Tural/Veegie/any of the staff may come across as cranky. Stubborn folks like yourself with misguided opinions come onto the forum, ranting and raving. The staff then has to deal with and address all of it. :|

To be honest, complaining won't change a thing. If you don't like the staff on this site then just come come here. Simple as that.

He's basing his opinion on false claims, making his opinion misguided.

He said, she said. Base things on facts. Claiming the staff should change their ways because of an incident on IRC two years ago won't help.

Just because you don't agree with us does not make us wrong. Staff doesn't break the rules, like you have. Your ban is now permanent, for ban evading. I hope it was worth it.

Staff abuse is a serious concern...The site has had its share of good staff, and bad staff in its many years...I feel the staff we have now is pretty decent...The site runs well for the most part...

That being said, I'm always willing to hear complaints about any staff member by PMing me, or by making a post in this forum...The readers club has been specifically designed so that users can PM staff (including administrators) if they feel they have been wrongfully accused...This user decided that following the rules no longer applied to them, and evaded the RC, despite not needing to in order to complain against what they felt was an injustice...They have now been banned for that action...Had they chose a different route to err their complaints, a different outcome may have been achieved...

From this complaint, the first issue is a wrongful ban on IRC...IRC does not equal the forums in any way, and is only associated in the name...What happens there, stays there...That

I'm tired of complaints of corruption just because a staff member hurt their feelings. Get over it. Dead XXX Matt, if I'm correct about your previous RC it was because of flame invoking posts. Now your complaining because staff members are picking on you? Ook.

And it's always Tural or Veegie too. Yes, they can say provoking things sometimes, but really, who doesn't? This site brings in a lot of internets drama. I like our current staff; they do their job well. They may make a few errors sometimes, but that's only human.

And before you go whining about the other posts that got left, those were important to the topic rules, and thus kept. Had I seen your first post, and had it been of a similar nature, I would not have removed it. Someone else did, because it was against the rules, as I stated.

I stated, right there, that I would not have removed your post if I had seen it. Another staff member did it based on the rules there, but that rule was not made by me, and it was being handled with the leniency Iron_Forge described. You keep getting all mad about your posts being removed, but it was a huge misunderstanding that you blew out of proportion by continuously reposting with no clarification.

The entire issues here is that it was done by two different people. You keep ignoring that the first post was not seen by me, and I had no way of knowing what it said. You're putting a responsibility on the staff to know everything that happens all the time, it's just impractical. Your second post just said
Patrickssj6 wrote:You shouldn't have deleted my posts because I was right the whole time
That's useless to me, not having seen the first post. You didn't explain anything, it just looked like spam. Hence, it was deleted.
Patrickssj6 wrote:Thanks for deleting my posts in this topic for the 3rd time. I didn't break any rules...I can't do anything about it if you make mistakes and I make you aware of them.
Here again, nothing was explained, and it was again removed.

If you had just sent a PM stating that your post was about extending it, I would have said "Well it shouldn't have been removed, I'll update the date." But you didn't, you kept posting about your post being deleted, all the time not explaining yourself. Even after two PMs, you hadn't explained it. You didn't explain it until now, and I see your second post was edited around the time it was split, so the edit got overlooked.

I agree with ohnoohdear. Just 2 weeks ago, I made a topic about a upgrade to phpbb3, It was shutdown with No and the answer. I understand if you don't want to, but I had a fair argument to defend, my points and all I got was a lock. The post was defended with 5 reasons, all of which I could of given solid backup points to. I just wish Staff wouldn't lock topics that much.

C&S topics are locked when the issues has been addressed. There wasn't any chance for an upgrade to phpBB3, so there was no reason to keep discussing it. If you really care, it can be unlocked, but there is zero chance of the answer changing. It's just a waste of time and effort that was being avoided with the lock.

It is a poor thing to argue about. In that case, I was wondering how my account iBotPeaches was banned, when I think I only made a couple of posts. Instead of a non-HTML parsed page of "This account has been banned" Could we learn at least why were banned? Maybe..an email? Then a 1 month Suspension, for whatever the reason I was banned I wasn't notified. If that is all incorrect. I should be perm. IP banned, for creating accounts to get across the member ban. I love this site, and the members, but I get banned for no reason.

Also, If I do not get banned, I would like to explain my theory on the current forum setup. Its a bit confusing at first.
