Halo: FTW - A PepNess Project
UGH! now I have to buy a pc with with the proper rig so I can use that DXTweaker thing.
Congrats, it looks so elegant I want to spend more than $500 dollars so I can play it with the UI, a10, and the UI. Man Macs need more mods that are mac friendly. Just clean up a few things, but still I think its Outstanding as is.
it makes me want to spend large sums of money, which is by itself Outstanding.

softer on the eyes now
i have nvida also. the raideon settings are there to trick nvida to think you have one. i checked the problem and in DirectX Tweaker in the "Modules to Load" uncheck the one for "Preset Changer" and it will work fine i promise!ajax17 wrote:omg i love pepsi, i been showin redux to all my friends, now they have to dl this and replace redux, but whats goin happen to redux now..?

I edited the tut for the addon.. i forgot things will default when the program is passed out for download. here are the new instructions edited. the main post is changed also for this.
"just run the exe. a program will pop up and click the icon for "FTW HaloPC". then click "Properitys for FTW HaloPC" in and make sure the paths are correct for your setup. make sure "active" is checked also. the arguments box is for target commands like console and what not. Now go to "Modules to Load" and Uncheck "Preset Changer" and go into "Post Filter" and choose "Surreal". one you know everything is correct simply hit "start" in the top right and go play. "

Heres my review. The graphics, shaders, and Yelo work are nothing short of spectacular and I was able to run it just fine with both DXTweaker and I even tested out the maps with DisableAlphaRenderTargets as well with better results (I'm running a GeForce Go 6150). Even without clear scope, I like how you minimized scope blur without getting rid of it entirely. Now if that can just be applied to default Halo in a .ppf file that would be nice .
Almost everything about it I've liked so far except for a few bugs and general annoyances. (I don't want to sound like a prick here that criticizes everything, I'm aware that no mod is 100% perfect, but these issues should probably be looked into.)
Battle Creek: The trees block your passage up to the tops of the bases and onto rocket spawns since it has a collision model (on a default unmodded map the small trees did not and you were able to walk through them). Obviously this is not too much of a problem when playing in dedicated servers because you will simply warp through the tree that you see on your end, but if are hosting a game, that will be a problem for both you and others there.
All Maps: The active camo (ONLYif you use DXTweaker or have an ATI card) has what I call a Radeon 9000 series card error. Some pixels of the ATI camo reflect the color of the top left corner pixel making it easier than normal to spot camo. Whether this is a good thing or a bad thing remains to be seen...
Here is a screenshot of said error and it happens on every single map.
I've also had some sound problems on some maps too; certain sounds would just not play - not positive if its a hardware error or not, but with default unmodded maps I would not get sound lag, so I assume its an error on the map itself.
Particle overload on Gephyrophobia, the flames going off everywhere stopped particles from forming from gunshots or whatnot.
Other than these bugs that I've found, this mod is nothing short of spectacular. Thank you Pepsi and Nessa (and everyone else who worked on this project) for making something really great.

thanks for the review. it was blunt and honest. now here is some replys and ways to fix thoes issues.

simply open the map in hht and disable the collision for thoes trees that were added. you know well enough not to walk through them so it should be a problem i hope.

seeing as theres aimbots, bluwalls, wireframes and lag hacks i didnt think making the camo more pronounced would be that profound on things. most of the time when im in camo im getting shot by some nub using a emachine computer and they cant see grass let alone camo.

man, this map was a pain. i tried doing this like 5 times and each time i got a sound issue when it rebuilt. if anyone would like to test if nulling the scenery effects for "fire emitter" and "medium water spray" in htt cures these issue then that would be the solution to it. i dont have time to check now but i can tomarrow to see if its just to much going on for the engine to render. if its that big of deal to some then i can simply PMI just the biped in and play with the light/fog more or completely do a new theme for the map. im upset also how gephy turned out but i wanted to present the vision i had for it.
and yes, i can make a .ppf patch for the sniper or you can open hmt and extract the two bitmaps needed to pull this effect off...

just extract mine and pass them around for whoever to inject. hmt will ask "do you want to resize?" and make sure you choose "NO!". you will corrupt your bitmaps if you choose yes.

did you follow exactally what i typed? i dont think you did OR!! what vid card are you runnning? you need net framework 1.1 and dx9c also i think to use it. 98% of the people have thoes since halo needs it and most mod applications need netframefork to open. so what vid card are you running?
