OK people I got a question, or rather needed some help, I want to skin like a pro. The only way i can skin right now is by just putting a whole picture above the .dds file on photoshop. But the people who make the greatest skins make it so that it fits on every part of the vehicle, item etc. I was wondering HOW do you do and + If people want to help on how make the picture you put in.
tell me about it. anyways. use the photoshop polygonal lasso and lasso the part you want to edit. then work with about 25-50% opacity so if you accidentally edit a part you lassoed but didn't want to edit, you can take it out. then just do it over with 100% opacity so it will looks cleaner. or keep it as 25-50% opacity and use the sharpen tool at 25-50% strength to sharpen the edited area to make it look like it was painted onto whatever you skinned, not like a cover.

I like using the Magic wand, defining edges, and then slowly editing it to fit and erasing extra parts. This among with many other PS things, just got CS3 today or uh... yesterday as of 1 hour 17 minutes ago, can't wait to see what I can cook up with it.
yeah but magic wand will sometimes leave out some details, even after changing the tolerance level. i use it every now and then, but polygonal lasso i use the most.
