qft, but that movie you mentioned JK-47, "The Day After Tomorrow", that was a good pretty movie.bibbit wrote:I agree with iGeo and everyone else in saying that it is a natural climate change, much like previous ice ages.

If it was never proven, I could use the same logic to say sales of frozen treats(higher in the summer months) is directly related to drowning(also higher in the summer).
I myself believe it is a natural warming period.
1) Yes it was proven, I just explained it.
2) How would that be a statistic....? Do you know what a statistic is...?
3) Please go on I would like to hear you use the same logic to say sales of frozen treats relates to increased drownings. I don't see how you could.
1.Well, considering that CO2 traps the suns rays, wouldn't the CO2 act more to keep the rays out of our atmosphere than in?
2.For lack of a better word I said statistic. What I meant is that if two statistics are proportional, then they are dependent of each other.
3.You seem to have missed my point here. I gave two facts, that are known to be unrelated, but have proportional statistics. I was saying that the logic would be flawed to say global warming is real, only on this statistical correlation.
2) This is not a statistic, its proven science, ur making no sense at all.
3) This does not make sense, they are related, it is proven the co2 gases we are spitting into the atmosphere will raise the planets tempature, tho it will take a long long time to notice any difference. Your example made no justice for your argument.
Don't be.

I never really made an argument. I stated my opinion, then I asked if there was solid proof of global warming, and then I gave an example of how flawed it would be to make the link of CO2 -> Global Warming without proof. Somehow I missed JK's post explaining heat absorbsion.

I believe that Global Warming is something we've done to
our selves. I think that we are pulling oueselves into our own
little Apoclypse. All of the things that are happening today is
specificly written in the Bible. The Weather will grow tired ( Harsher Weather, at different times- such as 80 degrees on the 24 of December)
Terror will strike when least expected ( 9-11). And the economy will
be so overwhelmed with greed that we will not allow food for the starving man. In my opinion, Global Warming is real, and it's hungry.
This is the way the world ends. (And The actual Apoclypse)
with regret,

Not to sound rude, because you are inclined to your opinion, however, I find it hard to believe apocalyptic warnings, due to the many fanatic threats there's been for the past... well.. my whole life.preston566 wrote:I believe that Global Warming is something we've done to

I'm not saying you're like this, either... But why are people so glued onto the idea that the world is going to end? Some people act so extremely about it it seems as if they want it to... I don't understand why people don't just enjoy life.
Once again, nothing I said was to you, just a comment covering a general group of people.
I don't believe the effects of this will bring an end to mankind... Just remap some of today's society.

There was proof of it in the 60s. The fact remains whether or not it is true nobody in America is ready to give up the lifestyle they live because most think the present lifestyle is inadequate.
Nobody cares because it would affect them too much.
I for one think it is just another liberal fad. But each to his own I guess.

I think that global warming is a real issue, but it will take a very long time to bring about the end of the world. However, there are things we need to do about, and no one seems to notice this. In my opinion, although it's not going to mean the end of the world (for a long time, anyway), but it could definitely change the way that we live our lives, and if we don't do something about it now, we're definitely going to regret it soon.
the ice ages were caused by simultaneous eruptions of volcanos that covered the earth in a blanket of ash blocking out sunlight.iGeo wrote:My opinion is that the planet is going through a natural climate change, something that happens every so often... I do believe we're contributing and perhaps speeding this up, but not by enough to worry about... we weren't around emitting C02 before the previous ice ages and such, so it's gonna happen anyway.
One super eruption occurred millions of years ago which caused a iceage. It currently is under Yellowstone Colorado.
I haven't heard that.. Don't super volcanos only erupt once? Being just one pocket of magma with no connections via magma tunnels to a large source.. I'm not sure if it would be able to erupt again... I could be wrong, though.Rockymods wrote:the ice ages were caused by simultaneous eruptions of volcanos that covered the earth in a blanket of ash blocking out sunlight.iGeo wrote:My opinion is that the planet is going through a natural climate change, something that happens every so often... I don't believe volcanoes are responsible for every ice age.. Maybe a couple.. but not all of them, because there's other causes as well, such as, like I mentioned, the oceanic conveyor belt. It's likely that it's been thrown out of it's usual, steady course.

Uhm, wow. No. Get your facts straight. First of all, Yellowstone spreads across Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho, doesn't even touch Colorado. (Reference)Rockymods wrote:the ice ages were caused by simultaneous eruptions of volcanos that covered the earth in a blanket of ash blocking out sunlight.

Also, that's not the cause of ice ages. Read this: Information on the causes of ice ages. If you read through it, volcanoes are one of the very few causes of ice ages.
Wow...
So many of you are completely blind.
You do realize that the only reason people BELIEVE that global warming is true is because the media screams about it in your face.
There is NO global warming.
The only reason you hear about it so much is this:
If you headed a newspaper company, or at a TV news channel, or any other type of media production business, would you rather have stories about
'OH MY GOD, THE WORLD IS ENDING. GLOBAL WARMING WILL MELT THE POLAR ICE CAPS, MAKING POLAR BEARS EXTINCT AND DROWNING THE WORLD!' or something like 'there is no such thing as global warming.'
Realize that there are so many more people (including thousands of scientists who have studied data and tons of shit) who know that there is no global warming, but you only hear from those who say it is happening. To think otherwise degrades you and your reputation to someone who lives by the news channel. Don't believe everything you hear.
The Earth is constantly heating up, and has been doing so its entire existence in the universe. How did we get out of the Ice Age if not for global warming? Did the snow just decide to move away to another planet?
I know someone is going to argue with my post. Whomever does, you and everyone who believes in global warming needs to get a life.
You are hearing this global warming shit from the same people who demonize your own brother for fighting in Iraq. Unless you are a hateful bastard, I think you'd side with your brother-the one you hardly ever hear from since he's over fighting for his life to save you and your family from suicidal, religion crazed freaks that have been given guns- over the loudmouthed liberal jackass who either doesn't know what he's talking about or knows and doesn't care what everyone thinks, because he just wants more political power/reputation.
Well I'm done.

UPS, haven't you noticed that our summers are getting warmer each year? Wow, isn't that just a coincidence? Sorry, but I can't my head around how sad your logic is on this topic.
The people that you are talking about are directing those things at the people who are directing the wars, and risking others lives for a cause of greed and money, not the people that are fighting the wars, cause it wasn't the soldiers who decided to go to Iraq, they had no say in the matter.UPS wrote:You are hearing this global warming **** from the same people who demonize your own brother for fighting in Iraq.
