Well aren't they professionals? From a glance at the Carnage report is seems he preformed better. Doesn't that make you professional, beating professionals?Veegie wrote:Don't make posts like that.Dr.Cox wrote:So your pro too?DrXThirst wrote:Well, I recently got into a game with LiL Poison and his dad in Team Slayer.

Both of them added me to their friends lists.
So, that brought up some curiosity. Who here at halomods have played with pros? If you have, which ones?
Hope to see many replies!
Sorry Veegie I probably should have elaborated in my post a little more. MB.

Not removing this 'till I get back. Leaving on [01/05/09]

You have to do it consistently as well as place high at MLG Events. Even though, yes, if you check the later games, I did just as well - LP is not one of the best pros.Dr.Cox wrote:Well aren't they professionals? I did go to Orlando this past September and beat StrongSide, Gandhi, ElamiteWarrior, Legit, Naded, Neighbor, LP, and T2 in the Boost 1v1. Although I doubt they were taking it seriously, I made most of them try. I was told by StrongSide, T2 and Gandhi that I was the only one that had given them any competition at all.
Now that's a whole different story when Karma comes in. Karma destroyed me 5-2. (Keep in mind these are 2 minute games.)
So, no, it doesn't make me pro even though I am up there with them.

Those TVs have a 32 second response time, are plasma, and the competition is run on pre-update Xboxs...DrXThirst wrote:You have to do it consistently as well as place high at MLG Events. <offtopic>Well i know Veegie helped with the original designs but he might have made a new template for another site or it may just be a image who knows????</offtopic>
Why is it so hard to beleve that sme people can become perfessionals at video games no matter the age.
Being a professional is pretty muc when you get paid for what you do "professionals" get paid for doing what they do Baseball, basketball, etc So do professional gamers they get paid for being sponsored.

Yeah, because all professional gamers quit high school and don't do anything at all productive with their life while they're a professional gamer. Really smart comment...Dojorkan wrote:Hi, welcome to McDonald's, may I take your order?L0d3x wrote:Well yes it is a fact that some people make a living out of it. So yes it's their profession. Sounds to me like a lot of people are jealous(not everyone here, but a lot) so they're quick to dismiss professional gaming as something stupid. You realize hey, they get paid to do what I like to do for a hobby, and then you realize you're probably not good enough to do it, so you tell yourself it's a joke and they'll end up nowhere in life so that you feel better about yourself.
Well I can tell you this right now, I am not jealous at all. I'd hate to sit in front of a tv the whole time, especially as a job.OwnZ joO wrote:Yeah, because all professional gamers quit high school and don't do anything at all productive with their life while they're a professional gamer. And I never stated that gaming can't be a profession, because it is simply a fact that if you get paid for something then it's probably your profession (or your doing someone a favor). I simply find it a very unappealing profession, and one that isn't as respect-worthy as a 'normal' profession (that is how I feel about it, and my feeling won't change).
And I've seen some shows that cover these 'pros'. And several of them actually did quit high school just to focus on gaming... Now of course not all of them do it, but I can imagine them leaving their schoolwork aside just so they can 'practice'.
Once again, I am not (at all!) jealous.
I think we can all conclude that some people respect the amount of time these guys invest in their video games, while others seem to find it a waste of time. Not that I didn't know this already...
I disagree with you, I must be jealous. I love when people play that card, its funny... and illogical.OwnZ joO wrote:Yeah, because all professional gamers quit high school and don't do anything at all productive with their life while they're a professional gamer. Seriously though, I don't have anything to be jealous about. I'd much rather play halo as a game than a job. As in not HAVING to practice or take the game super seriously. Now If I got payed simply for just playing and having fun with no pressures thats another story
*I* am not saying its not a profession. Technically it is. But its not something I find very appealing or respectable- compared to something like actually MAKING a game or playing a sport.
Actually, a game profession I could respect is playing DDR (assuming youre using a metal pad as opposed to a hand held controller, and your not playing on the easier dificulties). And hey I SUCK at DDR, I do 20x better at Halo then I do at DDR.

How is that illogical, I never said you wanted to be a professional gamer, just because you don't want to play halo as a profession doesn't mean you can't be jealous of them. Maybe you might just realize that they make money seemingly easily compared to many other jobs doing something you enjoy, and feel the need to minimize their accomplishments by saying they don't deserve much respect. You could just not comment, but the fact that you're saying they don't deserve much respect says something, unless you wanna tell me another motive for you to minimize their accomplishments that's what I'm sticking to.Dojorkan wrote:I disagree with you, I must be jealous. That's a completely different signature.StalkingGrunt911 wrote:Sorry to go off topic but Veegie is your signature suppose to look like that? The medals all scrunched up?
It's signature 6 in the series.
The medals show up according to what you've gotten in ranked games.
In my example, I've got no higher than a killtacular in a ranked game.
I make the signatures, Anthony does the work under the hood.
JEALOUS!? Oh you hit the spot man...So totally got me. You uncovered my deep dark secret, instead of playing games in spare time for fun with or without friends like I normally do, deep down I want to play them for a living be competitive and get paid for it...Not a night goes by without me crying myself to sleep because I'm so jealous that I want to be considered "pro". WHY OH WHY CAN'T ALIENWARE OR BURGER KING* SPONSOR ME? AM I NOT GOOD ENOUGH? I WISH I WERE OWNZ JOO!
No. You could have said that we were under a slightly wrong impression, missing the point of it but saying that we're all jealous because we think little of this "sport" is just damn stupid to me...Almost as stupid as the "sport" in the first place.
*Hungry Jack's ftw ;p

Re: Professional Gamers
Not the TV's in Orlando. They had little 20" screens that you play on and they were linked to huge plasma screens that had a long response time. That way, everyone could see what was going on without having to be up close. My dad stayed way in the back away from everyone while I was doing the 1v1's.Veegie wrote:Those TVs have a 32 second response time, are plasma, and the competition is run on pre-update Xboxs...
The xboxes that we were playing with in Orlando weren't completely pre-updated. They had 1.1B, although they still didn't have 1.5.
Isn't 1.5 just for the new maps though?
EDIT : Sorry, it's not the best picture. Although, you can see that there are smaller TV's linked to bigger plasmas.

I think this would be a great opportunity for you to give up sarcasm and stop trolling.Hawaiian Modder wrote:I think that it's a great opportunity for people who aren't physically equip to play spots, and for people with communication problems and everything else that can stop someone from getting a job, now all you need to do is have fast hands, a semi-functional brain and a controller.
