True, but it shouldn't come to the point where they can't get a compromise in within the deadline.
if they don't compermise there will be ALLOT of schools closed there.

Their should be goals, not deadlines. Deadlines force complication, not cooperation. This is a perfect example of why our government shouldn't be funding our schools.

I think Wisconsin is significantly behind on the new budget too.

The fall of the US is upon us. :P Well, that's pretty bad if the police are not around, even if only for a short while. I hope they can figure something out quickly.

things really shouldn't be that bad, just different. just because there's 1/2 as many cops doesn't necessarily mean crime rates will go up, although i personally find it likely. also, aren't town and county cops on a different payroll than state cops? like, highway patrol/MDoT/michigan state police would be in less force during a 'shutdown', but wouldn't town police like detroit pd still be in full force?

Dont blow this out of proportion. The "worst" case scenario is very far from happening.

If we made it through the Civil War and the Great Depression (among other things), I think we can handle missing a budget deadline.

hahaha, good stuff.

Also, has this happened before to other states often in the past? I don't really know anything about this sort of stuff in the states.

i'm pretty sure it has. i've heard of it happening in minnesota and new jersey, so i doubt this is anything serious. i'm sure it'll just end up being a day or two of "oh hey, i haven't seen a state trooper between detroit and flint", aftwerwhich they'll either enact anothr temporary budget, or they'll actually get one finished.
