I only have 3 complaints thus far;
1) Arbiter jumps higher than MC, it makes co-op annoying with friends. (In some parts).
2) Way too much equipment and weapons. I've put in about 15 hours on that game and I'm STILL finding more equipment things. I also don't think they needed AR, BR, and SMG. One or two tops would have been good.
3) This pissed me off the most, you can't go from running to crouch walking. You actually have to stop, crouch, and THEN start walking again. Made me sad.

Ah, but they all serve their own purpose, do they not? Assault Rifle is meant to be a medium-short range decent weapon, whereas an SMG can be combined with tons of other weapons, allowing it to beat the Assault Rifle in short range...maybe even medium range if you combine it with a Plasma Rifle/Pistol.Munsie wrote:2) Way too much equipment and weapons. The Battle Rifle has changed in to more of a...medium-long range weapon, instead of the all-purpose rifle from Halo 2. You may get killed fairly often using it up close, but once people start moving away, you will have a much higher ratio of shots hit:shots fired than they will from using an SMG or Assault Rifle. It's good to annoy a Sniper, lay down a bit of covering fire or support for a team mate, etc.
As for the equipment...same deal. Bubble Shield can be combined very effectively with a Sword or Hammer in Campaign, or be that quick second you need to recharge your shields. Not to mention you can use it when you're pinned down in Heroic/Legendary, and need to advance your position. The Regenerator...I'll admit, I didn't use it that much, but I can see it being useful in a pinch. You can also set it up as a fallback point so you can go back, get your shields charged, and get right back in the action. Deployable Cover is a fantastic way to get some easy Sniper Rifle rounds off against Brutes, or to let you pick off Drones with a Battle Rifle...because we all know how fast a swarm of them can kill you. Point is, it just rocks against Covenant provided you kept your weapons.
Trip Mines are sort of self explanatory...when you got a vehicle or Brute charging at you, it's good to save your ammo and throw one of them down. Gravity Lift...I have no idea, I never used it. Apparently, you need it to get a Skull, and I guess some vehicles can be pushed out of your way with it...but I haven't tried that, so I don't know if it's a reliable defense in that case. Power Drainer was pretty decent at stopping vehicles...didn't help so much against actual enemies, but every little bit helps.
Active Camo seems to last a much shorter amount of time, and I don't know if it was the camo running out or not...but it seemed to disappear when I meleed. I wouldn't exactly swap it out for the other pieces of equipment, but I guess it could give you enough time to sneak to a new piece of cover or something.
I don't remember any other equipment, but I think a while ago there was talk of an Invincibility equipment, which I distinctly remember seeing two Brute Chieftains (gold armor dudes) use...so maybe if you get extremely lucky, you can kill one before they use it. I think it's just understood that if you could get that, it'd totally rock.
*cough*

my biggest disappointment was ...
**SPOILER** **SPOILER** **SPOILER**
Sergeant Johnson died. I mean, he survives the Pillar of Dawn exploding, but he can't live through a little robot shooting a laser at him?

Welcome to Halo 1's transition to Halo 2, though I must say I'm far more pleased by Halo 3 than 2.
Lol, wtf is that?Aumaan Anubis wrote: ...Pillar of Dawn...

I think you mean the Pillar of Autumn...anyways, if you read the books (I think First Strike), they explain how he got off the Halo. Halo 1's Legendary ending did not actually happen in terms of storyline.Aumaan Anubis wrote:Sergeant Johnson died. I've read the three books, First Strike, flood, fall of reach, twice times each. And, I can't remember them explaining why. Anyone wanna quote the book for me?GametagAeonFlux wrote:I think you mean the Pillar of Autumn...anyways, if you read the books (I think First Strike), they explain how he got off the Halo. Yes sir.GametagAeonFlux wrote:I don't have an exact quote, but he and a few others escaped Installation 04 on a Pelican and landed on a nearby asteroid I think.
And he was immune to Flood infection due to (I can't remember exactly what) either plasma grenade usage giving him some mental disorder that did enough to block Flood from getting him, or some weird SPARTAN testing.

Even with him escaping the flood, 2 halo rings, the fights on earth, he sadly passed in Halo 3, Johnson was awesome, and the only bad ass non spartan there was in my opinion (DON'T BURN ME FOR TYPING THAT THE THREAD WARNED FOR SPOILERS!).GametagAeonFlux wrote:Boren's Syndrome from exposure to radiation from Plasma Grenades.

Their was one bad ass marine on the first halo, but sadly he couldn't make it through the library. He got so far too.Halo4Ever wrote:Even with him escaping the flood, 2 halo rings, the fights on earth, he sadly passed in Halo 3, Johnson was awesome, and the only bad ass non spartan there was in my opinion (DON'T BURN ME FOR TYPING THAT THE THREAD WARNED FOR SPOILERS!).GametagAeonFlux wrote:Boren's Syndrome from exposure to radiation from Plasma Grenades.

They physics for some people might not have seemed to change so much, but I mean if you played halo several hours a day and were hardcore about it, like I was (I'm not saying you weren't) you'd realize that they are completely different. It's not smooth anymore, it feels more restricted. I really don't know a better way of describing it.GametagAeonFlux wrote:Modtrocity,
What exactly about the physics do you not like?
The Battle Rifle was "ownage" in Halo 2 because every other gun (excluding Sniper/Beam Rifle and Rocket Launcher) was crap. Also, they took out the glitches it had (BXR, RRX, I'm looking at you)...is that why everyone's complaining about it?
Sniping should be hard...ever tried aiming at someone while they're running at an angle and you--hold on, someone's at the door.
What part about campaign put you to sleep? The fight against the Scarab while riding around on an ATV? Burning down herds of Flood with a Flamethrower?
The Gravity Hammer is balanced. Yeah, it has a one hit kill melee...but wait...didn't the Energy Sword have that in Halo 2, plus a really long lunge range? And isn't there an Energy Sword in Halo 3? There is. The explosion radius on the Gravity Hammer is sized in a decent manner, and isn't going to be some sort of end-all-beat-all weapon on small/enclosed maps. Not to mention you can't just pull it out and kill someone like the Energy Sword from Halo 2. There's a relatively long period of time before you can actually use it.
Walking speed doesn't really seem much different to me...it may just be that the levels are larger though.
I played ALOT of MLG in halo 2. Default starting weapon for that is the BR. It was basically the main weapon to most of the advanced players, yes in some cases for BXRing, Double shotting, RRBXing, etc, but even without that, it was a great weapon. It's firing speed wasn't slow but wasn't too fast either. I see what you mean about it being a longer ranged weapon now because of it shooting slower.. I guess that was inevitable because of the AR being added. I liked the old BR because it was an all-around good weapon, upclose or long range, but now it's mainly long range, out of reach of up close weapons.
It's not really that the sniping is "Harder," it's just going to take ALOT of getting used to because of the difference from Halo 2. Again, I liked halo 2 because you could jump in the air spin around and noscope someone behind you with relative ease. Now it's next to impossible, from my perspective anyways. Just gotta get used to the feel I guess. But once again, the adjusted the weapon to do what it was mean for, long-range sniping.
"Sniping should be hard...ever tried aiming at someone while they're running at an angle and you--hold on, someone's at the door.:
- Yeah, I prefered noscoping them across the map as they were falling after jumping from somewhere, all while I was in the air too. Halo 2 was easy to snipe in.
I'm not sure about the campaign. It probably didn't help that I stood in line for 3 hours before anyone else even started to line up then stayed up all night playing it. Basically I was more than half asleep which is why I probably didn't find it too appealing at the time.
The energy sword has been balanced out alot though. You have to be so much closer too the person now too kill them with it. That and the upped power of close range weapons really evened out the sword. As for the hammer, it isn't too bad. I just think it should be somewhat less powerful.
Compared to halo 2, you definately walk slower. That just adds to the more restricting physics we have already.
Well, those are my opinions. *sigh* I really wish it had turned out more like Halo 2.
Also, I think the shadows from you character are too sharp. Although they are pretty cool compared to Halo 2.

I love the game. I just wish there were a way to invite all friends at once, like the "Invite Online Members" option in Halo 2. It's a much quicker and conveniant way of inviting all friends without having to manually scroll through your friends list and click the X button on each friend.

Agreed. I liked the old friends list better. But now since it's actually made for the 360, we have to use the 360 friends list.Shadowz_O_Death wrote:I love the game. It just doesn't seem that Halo 3 is as "fluid" as halo 2 was.
