Permission and Question
Nsomnia, that skin has some potential...
I'm curious, when you finish that skin would you let me use it for a mod I'm trying to make?
Here's the overview.
I am relatively new to modding and hacking, but fairly knowledgable. I just suck at skinning, I get horrible models.
I am currently working on a mod that transforms the banshee into a bomber. This is all the stuff that goes with it.
Number one. Primary fire is completely gone. You cannot shoot plasma. Instead, I took a leaf out of the Hog Wars book, no I didnt steal anything, and implemented a speed burst instead.
Recap: Primary Fire = Temporary Speed Burst (Length = Rocket Warthog firing cycle on automatic + reload time)
Number two. Secondary fire. This is the big mack daddy. No more wimpy fuel rod I'm going right for the bombs. Okay, so this is the score.
Instead of shooting a rod, the banshee does the equivalent of the MC chucking a grenade straight down, correction, slightly ahead of the banshee from whatever altitude you are at. Actually, thats exactly the routine I used, the MC chucking a grenade. I reskinned the projectile to look like a rocket without the smoke trail. Also, it is travelling at the speed of a grenade and it is pointed straight down. I'm working on generating a spiral in the bomb's decent as well.
The secondary fire utilizes the rocket warthog's firing system. Three shots, and a reload. This means you can drop three bombs and then reload.
Recap: Secondary fire = 3 bombs
Number three. I also am working on decreasing the space the banshee takes up in halo's space calculations so it can fly higher. Incidentally, since i dont know how to alter space calculations without shrinking a model, I'm most likely going to flatten the banshee skin.
Thats where you come in, Nsomnia. Your skin looks perfect for a bomber or fighter, it has the small speedy look to it. True, it can be improved a bit, but it is perfect in its concept. It looks nothing like the old shee, this skin looks like it has a whole new role in the covenant fleets.
Final Notes
I'm also going to try to add a plasma grenade sheen to the bomb, so it looks more Covvie, and maybe I'll keep the fuel rod explosion look to it. Or... combine it with a tank shell... Hmm...
Let me know what you think about this and please, Nsomnia, let me know if i can use that skin when you finish. Naturally, I would definitely give you massive credit if you let me, and if we both finish our mods I would list you as a co-developer. The skins are the most important part in a mod... if you got some diesel effects but a crappy animation/skin to it... the mod is a failure.
