20 on the 5th December born 1987.
started playing halo when i was 15 and played dukenukem 3d when i was about 8.
i agree with iron forge&whisper games shouldnt have a age rating unless they have a sexual nature or gruesome violence.

Neat, we're on the same day. :D And I said that first, but of course Forge would be quoted. >_>

Kids will always get into things they shouldn't...But there's no reason to encourage and support such things as adults...
Actually I could care less about what is actually in the game, but yeah I agree with what you said for the context and stuff, but it's the fact that instead of starting (serious) gaming like some of us did when we were 15-17 and such, they're starting at earlier and earlier ages.

Because it drives kids to do crazy things, For instance the recen Virginia Tech Massacre. But kids have been doing crazy things lately like joyriding in their friends moms car, robbings its a never ending list.Games do nothingbut drive their brains to do things like this. So i like the esrb rating system but i hate it when i cant buy games =X

I honestly believe that if a kid is encouraged to do something stupid by a video game, the video game is not the actual problem, rather the kid.

By the way, I'm 15, turning 16 in about half a year.

if video games convinced kids to kill people and destroy stuff there would be alot more vandalism and murder story's on the news.

My dad introduced me to my first 'awesome' game. Vigilante 8.

That was many many many years ago when PS1 first arrived...

I turned 18 August 24th and started playing Halo cuz I was told it was 'Good' by a friend. My dad bought it since I was only 11 or so.

Hehe my dad also bought me lighters...which fueled my passion for fire.

Duke Nukem? As in Duke Nukem 3D? There was swearing, gore, and strippers you could pay money to flash you. You could take pisses in toilets too, but there wasn't any sort of graphic for that...just some sounds.

Yea i was just using that as an example for something horrible that happened because of mentally ill kids not getting the help they need. But gaming wise, recently a kid took his friends moms car for a joyride and lead the police on a chase once it was over he was asked why did he do thei and he replied "Grand Theft Auto" so that is an example of what games do to kids mental kids in general.

SHOUTrvb wrote:I still can't believe how old 5C077 and Chad are. I mean, they're both nice and mature, but it's weird imagining people that are a decade older than you are, but for some reason you can speak to them on the same level around here. I've noticed that HM almost has a second "age" system. If you use proper grammar, you're older, and if you don't, you're young. That has some real life truth as well, but I know plenty of older people with horrible grammar. Still, I've known the a/s/l of most of the members here for a while, so most of my descriptions of people around here are accurate.
That's very true about the age system, unfortunately, this usually means modders with english as a second language get less respect, regardless of their skill level.
