Ok I decided to start making Halo 2 maps and I was just testing a blank box I made in 3DS Max 7 by following a tutorial that was on h2v.halomaps.org. It has the sky and the frame node with the names needed. I exported it and compiled it but when I tried to open it in H2Sapien, I get an error that says "This file is corrupt and cannot be loaded. H2Sapien will now shut down."
This happens when step 2 (compiling scripts) starts. I don't know why the file would be corrupt so I need help. Any help is greatly appreciated!
I had the same problem. you have to make sure there is no open edges. In 3ds, go to the modify tab and in the dropdown click stl check. Fix all errors. also make sure the name of you map and the name of the folder your map is in are the same. Also make sure that when you compile your map, you click compile and light. hope this helps
Yeah, i have the same problem as well. i found this thread and have tried everything Argetlam and TNTinthezone have said, but the same error message comes up: "file is corrupt, sapien will now shut down."
ive done compile and light, and errrors do show up that say something about shaders. im only trying to load a simple box map with two materials just to get the jist of the program. my material names are all right, ive followed tutorials step by step.
i dont know whats going wrong, but anyone with any help will be greatly appreciated.
the b_levelroot im sure is right. but just to recap: u name a sphere b_levelroot and link it to your map, right?
as for the unhide all before compiling, i have no idea. maybe thats the prob. johnyblaz20, any more info on that would be great man.
edit well uh hehe, so i finally figured it out. i somehow made two duplicate folders, one with a working .senario file and one without.
well wohooo, cant wait to make a cool map! halo is sweet
all right, so i got my simple box map up and running and i decided to make a more complex one. now i get a whole new problem in the compiler, accompanied with this error-
- now ive heard of the pipeline error in other parts of the forum, and people have said it had to do with linking the sphere to the map. but ive gone back and have redone that step a few times and am convinced its right. the only other thing i can think of is incorrect assignment of the materials. idk, but any help is greatly appreciated.
-p.s. what is all this "parse" in the error message?
