Need help for putting an object from a map to another one

Post by jozzz »

Hi there.

Im just a beginner in halo2 modding. I want to do something:

For exemple, i like the needler which comes in the nightwinter2 version of containment. I want it in my beavercreek map.

What i have done: i opened my moded map of containment with entity UE v1.6, then i save the needler weap tag in a folder on my computer with the parse, recursive and sound boxes checked. After that, i opened my original beavercreek map and i clicked on the build button and select the needler.info created previously. Entity told me 'done', in my mind i though the new needler has 'overwrite' the old one. I signed the map and ftp-ed it to my Xbox.

And.... Failure, the needler is still the same !

Please can you tell me where i am wrong (use common words cause i'm french).

Thanks.

After you've build your needler into the map.
You'll have to overwrite the old one with it.
So go to dothalo and open your map.
Now go to your new needler tag.
IN the main window you'll see two textbars on the top.
The lowest one is the meta ofsett.
Now in your new needler tag, just select the value that is in the meta ofsett box.
And copy it.
Now go to your old needler tag and paste it over the old meta offset.
When the game is great.... The gamer has to be greater.
Such is the rule of honor.

go into entity then save the needler then go to the map you want it in build it. then go to the original needler in the weap tag. right click go to display idents, then find the hlmt tag there right click it go to swap then swap it for the hlmt of the modded needler. done

Thanks but same answer dude, i just cant find the new needler in the beavercreek map, maybe because the moded needler i have just build has the same name ??

I just make a test and it worked: i have first duplicate the 'weap' needler tag in the nightwintermap, so there is a (1) behind the name of the needler, and then i built it in ma beavercreek map. I can now find it in the tags of beavercreek ! I switched the Meta offset of the 2 needlers and yessssssss, i've got my new needler in beavercreek (in first person view).

But there is one more thing which is not OK. When i look at my masterchief at the third person view when he's got the needler in his hand, i see the old model of the needler.

So you know my next question, where to find the 3rd person view models in these billion of tags ?!

Edit: I've found a solution: i made the same operation with the 'hlmt' needler tag (duplication in the first map --> save --> build in the new map --> meta offset switch) and now every thing seems to be OK, 1st n' 3rd person view !!

Im satisfied guys ! Thanks for your tips. I don't think this is the optimal solution to do that so if you want to give your point of view, i'll take it ! See Ya !
