Ok I have a windows anytime upgrade dvd i want to know if it will install vista or if it is just to download updates or whatever when i put it in i see te normal installation menu for vista but im not sure so please hep.

It depends on which version of Vista you are getting. Installing it isn't hard.

no you see my mom bought a laptop and im using her dvd it is called windows anytime upgrade, from what im earing right now it asks you for the 25 key serial before starting to install.

Your harddrive will be formatted and you'll lose everything. Make sure to back everything up.

its a upgade disc i want to keep my files and settings
How expensive was it?
It came with my moms $800 laptop.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh nvm. Ya, like TomClancey said back up everything, pop in the disk and the rest is pretty much straight forward.

yea but in my particular case there isnt no update option so i need a way to backup all my stuff, any ideas?

Buy some type of external media. I use my xbox which has a 160gb hdd in it. Or you could make a seperate partition on your computer and transfer all your files to it. Then format the normal C partition that contains your OS.

That problm is solved i am running Vista Home Premeum edition right now.

hey for future reference because i might be getting vista in near future how do i get stuff from my computer to xbox use a ethernet cable?

lol,my video card is gay and it is built in my motherboard so unupgradeabe and it dos'nt support aero anyoe know how to renable aero?or add more of my system memy to it beings how it uses my systems memory already.

An $800 laptop these days wont give you much room for quality. You probably don't even have a GB of system memory, if so its probably of low latency.

If you want to get the most out of vista without dealing with many problems I would suggest disabling most of the animations and transparency features. They will only increase loading times and decrease the amount of memory available to you.

Well I'm fine cause I got basically no programs running, 2gb RAM and a 8600 GT.

When you install Vista All your old files go to a new folder called Windows.Old
