Why do you enjoy modding?
Why do you enjoy modding?
Not much of a huge discussion topic I suppose, but I was just thinking earlier why I liked to do it. My answer was because I enjoy doing things in a game that I could never do in real life. Climbing on walls, building new sniper spots, both at the same time...Makes it a new experience every time, and quite possibly the main reasons I've been playing Halo 1 PC for so many years now. The experience has yet to die. What are some of your reasons?
Its all for fun. First time I was on XBC and saw a flying warthog I was just wowing. The guy was also shooting buses out of his plasma pistol. Back then that was something new to me, and I wanted to screw around with a game and see what I could do myself.
I got more into it, playing as other bipd's got me some fun back then, then I started going for better things, I started programming for fun, researching for fun, and it all grew.

I mod for a couple reasons, I was actually brought into modding when I first saw cheaters on xbox live, I always wondered, Wow, wouldn't that be cool to do all that stuff. I kind of drifted among cheating sites for my first year of modding but never cheated on live I always found the tutorials there good, Then I found HaloMods which helped me bring modding for me atleast to the next step. Modding kind of makes me feel proud of my self because I know I can take the game and make it better for me and others, and do stuff to the game that isn't normally in the game, especially without cheating. Thats why HaloMods in my opinion is the best Modding website for any halo game out there, Its for the true purpose of modding.
And of course detox is right, it all comes down to fun.

"A hero needs not to speak, for when he is gone, the world will speak for him" - My favorite quote.
Just doing things that the retail game didn't allow for, that was my main reason for joining in the first place. Now it's just entirely the programming for me, and as there is still a lot to realise in the map file, I stick around.
The community here too (mostly) is rather ub3r, so I stick around because of that too ;>

First thing, i really enjoy playing halo, and being able to mod it expend the halo universe because i discovered things that bungie didn't pub in-game and i make fun of the game and it's environement and characters/objects.
The second reason i like to mod is that i have always wanted to make my own game, well modding is not like making your own game but you can make your own content and add more things to he game that you'd like to have to make the game better in the way you see it.
And finaly the best thing is being able to play mods with friends or others modders.

Yeah, I stick around for the programming aspect of it mostly.Prey wrote:Just doing things that the retail game didn't allow for, that was my main reason for joining in the first place.
